PRIMARY STAGES has announced that a celebration of life will be held on Monday April 24, 2023, for Artistic Director Andrew Leynse.

JAJA, written and directed by Taiwo Aloba, will play at TEATRO LATEA  as part of the Summerfest of the New York Theater Festival 2023 on Thursday, April 27th, Saturday, April 29th, and Sunday, April 30th.

Casting has been announced for the developmental reading of THE PINK by acclaimed Black Filipinx playwright and Kilroys List honoree Roger Q. Mason, presented by Breaking the Binary Theatre in association with Primary Stages as part of the Creative Access Grant Reading Series with Primary Stages.

The Carnegie's Creative Disruption Series continues this spring with two new productions. This workshop series focuses on supporting new theatrical works created by local theatre-makers, especially works with surprising themes or storytelling structures. The next productions in the series include MULTI-SHELLED HERMIT CRAB by Aki Hosada and ALL'S FAIRE written by Alexx Rouse and Zach Robinson with music by James Allen.

Primary Stages has announced additional performers for their 38th Anniversary Gala, honoring long-time collaborators Charles Busch and Carl Andress (The Confession of Lily Dare; The Tribute Artist) with the 2022 Einhorn Mentorship Award. The event will take place on Tuesday November 15, 2022, at 6pm at Sony Hall

PRIMARY STAGES and 59E59 Theaters, in association with Jamie deRoy, has announced casting for peerless, by 2019/20 Tow Playwright-in-Residence Jiehae Park (Hannah and the Dread Gazebo) and directed by Margot Bordelon (... what the end will be). 

In Robert Macke’s play House of Chavis, a father discovers his estranged son is competing on a reality television series … as a drag queen. The play is a funny and moving exploration of the ties that bind families, both biological and chosen, as well as the forces that drive them apart.

PRIMARY STAGES announced casting for On That Day in Amsterdam by Clarence Coo (People Sitting in Darkness) and directed by Zi Alikhan (The Boy Who Danced on Air). On That Day in Amsterdam will begin previews at 59E59’s Theater A on July 23, 2022, with opening night set for August 11 for a limited run through September 4, 2022.

signature Theatre’s SigSpace will present the first-ever installation from Quiara Alegría Hudes and Sean Ortiz’s Emancipated Stories project, designed by Yazmany Arboleda with Emmanuel Oni and featuring letter-writing sessions and pop-up performances produced in collaboration with The Fortune Society.

The new tour will kick off on October 15 in Greenville, SC, making stops in 43 U.S. cities including New York’s Madison Square Garden, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena before concluding in Seattle, WA on March 17.  Underwood will be joined on THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR by special guest Jimmie Allen on all dates. In partnership this summer, TOSOS and Iconoclast will bring to the stage, first, during Gay Pride Month, Grindr The Opera, followed by TOSOS's presentation of Robert Macke's House Of Chavis in July. Grindr The Opera is Erik Ransom's original, operatic parody about the hook-up app that changed gay life as we know it.
