World Premiere of CRUISE to Open in the West End in May

Aria Entertainment and Lambert Jackson have announced that the world premiere of CRUISE will open at the Duchess Theatre from 18 May – 13 June 2021. Written and performed by Jack Holden (War Horse, West End; Ink, Almeida Theatre), CRUISE is an urgent, moving and inspirational new play with live music and spoken word.

Shuck 'n' Jive has had quite a rapid journey. I was first introduced to the play whilst on my first day of rehearsals for another show. I requested a copy of the script and devoured it one weekend - I felt it was something special. I had a kinship with the writers, Cassiopeia Berkeley-Agyepong and Simone Ibbett-Brown, in their love for musicals, 90s children's TV and Viola Davis.

Mary Barton founded one of the first fertility clinics. She pioneered artificial insemination and worked within the confined of tabooed subjects, coming in aid of those married couples who were unable to conceive a child and going as far as destroying medical records in order to help them. Her husband, Dr Bertold Wiesner, was probably the main sperm donor and he's thought to have fathered many of the 1,500 children born thanks to Barton.
