Bono, friend to Troy the protagonist in UD Rep Ensemble's FENCES, comments 'Some people build fences to keep people out, some people build fences to keep people in'.

The Johnsons will be back for Season 6 of “black-ish,” as The ABC Television Network announced it is picking up the acclaimed comedy for the 2019-2020 season. In addition, ABC will expand the award-winning “black-ish” franchise even further, with the network giving an early series order to “mixed-ish,” a spinoff about Rainbow Johnson's experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the '80s.

Rec Room Arts continues its thought-provoking 2018/19 season with the regional premiere of the brilliant ring-side play The Royale by Marco Ramirez (Orange is the New Black, Sons of Anarchy). The opening bell rings April 10 at 7:30 p.m. and the fight continues through April 27.  

The main event for Terrific New Theatre (TNT) this month is a boxing drama inspired by groundbreaking African-American sports legend Jack Johnson. "The Royale" is an electrifying adrenaline rush that packs an unforgettable punch as it takes you inside Jim Crow America, inside the ring, and inside the head of a remarkable prizefighter. The production runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from May 2-18, plus two Sunday matinees, although there is no performance Saturday, May 4.

The Royale, the 2015 play by Marco Ramirez currently playing in Geva Theatre's Fielding Stage, isn't as much about boxing as it is about race, greatness, and a man who's moving faster than the world around him. It's an intimate, lyrical play, and continues Geva's recent tradition of hosting productions grown at Ithaca's Kitchen Theatre Company, another artistic gem just a couple hours down the 390.

Deadline reports Anders Holm, Tika Sumpter, and Arica Himmel will lead Black-ish's upcoming Bow-centric episodes, which features flashbacks of Tracee Ellis Ross' Rainbow. Gary Cole, Ethan William Childress, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Second City Chicago alum Christina Anthony have joined the potential spinoff series set in the 80s and 90s.
