BWW Interview: From Bill Gates to King George III- HAMILTON's Rory O'Malley Reflects on His Royally Wacky Spring

Just weeks ago he was preparing to make his Broadway return in NERDS. Now he is starring in the most popular show on Broadway. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Tony Award-nominee Rory O'Malley recently began his reign as King George in the Broadway musical Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 W. 46 St). Mr. O'Malley steps into the role that was previously played by Jonathan Groff, Brian d'Arcy James and Andrew Rannells. How did he end up here? O'Malley explains in the full interview below!

The New Group to Honor Ed Harris, Amy Madigan & Ellen Roth at Annual Gala

Off-Broadway's The New Group will honor Ed Harris & Amy Madigan and Ellen Roth at the company's Annual Gala on Monday, March 7 at Tribeca Rooftop (2 Desbrosses Street between Hudson & Greenwich). Hosted by Mario Cantone, the event will feature performances by Jerry Dixon and Nat and Alex Wolff, and an appearance by playwright Beth Henley, author of Crimes of the Heart and The Jacksonian. Music Director is Sinai Tabak. The evening, 6:00-10:00pm, includes cocktails, dinner, and silent and live auctions.

Director JJ Abrams Wants to See Gay Characters in STAR WARS Franchise

According to EW, director JJ Abrams wants to increase the diversity within the STAR WARS franchise by including gay characters in future films. The most recent Star Wars film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens featured a female protagonist (Daisy Ridley) and two costars of color (Oscar Isaac and John Boyega). However, the director wants to make the franchise even more inclusive in the future.

Rey took her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe, and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, which began principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15, 2016.
