The Martha Graham Dance Company will host its annual gala on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. This special gala evening will honor Barbara Cohen, a Trustee of the Martha Graham Center, for her generosity and service to the company. Proceeds from the gala support the creation of new works and preservation of Martha Graham masterpieces. The event is the nonprofit organization's largest annual fundraiser.

Last week Bob Mould released the album Sunshine Rock - a fresh and albeit glowing new collection that critics have spent the last few days raving about. Tomorrow Mould is set to start his international tour in support of the album. It's a journey that will take him across the United States and through Europe, including two shows the weekend of March 30-31 in Minnesota at The Palace and Turf Club in St. Paul (the very city where his legendary archetypal band Hüsker Dü formed) that mark Mould's 40th anniversary on the stage. The Turf Club show has already sold out.

Two groundbreakers, Brooklyn Arts Exchange founder/director Marya Warshaw and avant-garde choreographer and dancer Simone Forti, have been tapped to receive The Bessies' highest honors. Warshaw, who will receive the 2018 NY Dance and Performance Award for Service to the Field of Dance and Forti, selected for the 2018 NY Dance and Performance Award for Lifetime Achievement in Dance, will be honored during the October 8 ceremony at NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
