The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the winners of the NYMF 2014 Awards for Excellence. Awards are voted on by the NYMF jury and the awards were presented at the closing night celebration on July 27th at Arena Events Space.
Last night, November 10, Tony Award winner Billy Porter was honored at the NYMF 10th Anniversary Gala, presented at the Hudson Theatre. The special event also celebrated 10 years of creating and nurturing new musical theatre under the leadership of NYMF Co-Founder Isaac Robert Hurwitz. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the lineup of special events, concerts, student productions, and free developmental readings for its 10th annual festival. The festival also announced three additional full productions. This year's Festival will begin July 8th and continue through July 28th.
Broadway and Off-Broadway producer Ken Davenport (Macbeth, Kinky Boots, Godspell, Altar Boyz, The Awesome 80's Prom) will present The Davenport Ten Minute Play Contest which will feature ten 10 minute plays or musicals on June 20th at 7pm at the Davenport Studios. The contest winner and recipient of a $500 grand prize will be decided by an industry panel of judges that will include Ken Davenport, two-time Drama Desk nominated director Ed Sylvanus Iskandar, Broadway producer Jhett Tolentino, and Spring Awakening actress Remy Zaken.

Last year finalists were selected out of hundreds of submissions and the winner was determined by a panel that included Ken Davenport, NYMF Executive Director Isaac Robert Hurwitz, musical theatre writer Joe Iconis, and writer/performer Sarah Saltzberg.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) today announced the selections for the 2013 Next Link Project, NYMF's primary writer service program. The Next Link Project empowers emerging musical theatre writing teams as both artists and entrepreneurs by providing the training and relationships needed to help them move their musicals from readings to fully-realized productions and to advance their careers by maximizing the exposure they receive in the Festival. Ten of the Festival's full production slots are reserved for participants in The Next Link Project.
