The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the winners of the NYMF 2014 Awards for Excellence. Awards are voted on by the NYMF jury and the awards were presented at the closing night celebration on July 27th at Arena Events Space.

Last night, November 10, Tony Award winner Billy Porter was honored at the NYMF 10th Anniversary Gala, presented at the Hudson Theatre. The special event also celebrated 10 years of creating and nurturing new musical theatre under the leadership of NYMF Co-Founder Isaac Robert Hurwitz. The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the full slate of talent from the musical theatre set to appear at the NYMF 10th Anniversary Gala, presented at the Hudson Theatre on Sunday, November 10th.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) today announced that Dan Markley has been named as the new Executive Director and Producer of the organization, succeeding Isaac Robert Hurwitz, who stepped down to focus on his independent producing and creative consulting business.

20th Century Fox has formed a joint venture with top Broadway producer and Tony Award winner Kevin McCollum (Motown, Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights), prolific film producer John Davis (Predator, The Firm, Grumpy Old Men, I Robot, Chronicle) and leading industry executive Tom McGrath, to develop live stage productions based upon the studio's vast library of films.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the lineup of special events, concerts, student productions, and free developmental readings for its 10th annual festival. The festival also announced three additional full productions. This year's Festival will begin July 8th and continue through July 28th.

Broadway and Off-Broadway producer Ken Davenport (Macbeth, Kinky Boots, Godspell, Altar Boyz, The Awesome 80's Prom) will present The Davenport Ten Minute Play Contest which will feature ten 10 minute plays or musicals on June 20th at 7pm at the Davenport Studios. The contest winner and recipient of a $500 grand prize will be decided by an industry panel of judges that will include Ken Davenport, two-time Drama Desk nominated director Ed Sylvanus Iskandar, Broadway producer Jhett Tolentino, and Spring Awakening actress Remy Zaken.

American Theater Group's first musical theater presentation at its new home at UC-PAC's Hamilton Stage in Rahway, New Jersey, Jonathan Brielle's Himself and Nora opened Saturday April 27, 2013 to an SRO audience. Broadway and Off-Broadway producer Ken Davenport (currently represented on Broadway with MACBETH and KINKY BOOTS) announces the second annual Davenport Ten Minute Play Contest! 10 ten minute plays or musicals will be selected from an open submission call to be featured in a presentation evening and vie for the title of 'Best Play/Musical' as chosen by a panel of industry professionals and audience vote. Last year finalists were selected out of hundreds of submissions and the winner was determined by a panel that included Ken Davenport, NYMF Executive Director Isaac Robert Hurwitz, musical theatre writer Joe Iconis, and writer/performer Sarah Saltzberg.

An additional slate of special events, free events, staged readings and several educational panel discussions will be announced shortly.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) today announced the selections for the 2013 Next Link Project, NYMF's primary writer service program. The Next Link Project empowers emerging musical theatre writing teams as both artists and entrepreneurs by providing the training and relationships needed to help them move their musicals from readings to fully-realized productions and to advance their careers by maximizing the exposure they receive in the Festival. Ten of the Festival's full production slots are reserved for participants in The Next Link Project.
