Review: THE CRUCIBLE, Shakespeare's Globe

The Globe Theatre is no stranger to witches, but usually this takes the form of the Wyrd Sisters in the Scottish Play rather than a trip to Salem in the 1690s. It's a rare thing indeed for a non-Shakespeare play to take pride of place at the heart of the Globe Theatre during the summer season, let alone a 20th century classic, so this outdoor production of The Crucible is marked out as pretty special before it even starts.

BWW Review: BOTTICELLI IN THE FIRE, Hampstead Theatre

The Renaissance is in full swing with Lorenzo de' Medici's (Adetomiwa Edun) modern policies and Sandro Botticelli (Dickie Beau) is at the peak of his success. Parties are held in his honour and Florence is thriving as the home of some of the most sought-after painters of their age.

This hot-blooded and seductive reimagining of Renaissance Italy questions how much of ourselves we are willing to sacrifice when society comes off the rails. Award-winning actor and performance artist Dickie Beau (Bohemian Rhapsody and Re-Member Me) stars as Sandro Botticelli. He is joined by Hiran Abeysekera, Stefan Adegbola, Adetomiwa Edun, Louise Gold, Sirine Saba & Howard Ward.

BWW Review: OSLO, National Theatre

We need more waffles in diplomacy. Or rather more personal connections to bridge those vast divides. So believed the Norwegian couple who orchestrated secret peace talks in 1993 between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization - a slice of stranger-than-fiction history grippingly dramatised in JT Rogers' play, which deservedly picked up this year's Tony Award.
