Performances will begin on 5 December 2020 for Les Misérables -The Staged Concert at the Sondheim Theatre.  Today it is officially announced that the run will extend to 28 February 2021. 

Recorded live at the Gielgud Theatre last year with an all-star cast including Michael Ball as Javert, Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean, Carrie Hope Fletcher as Fantine, Matt Lucas as Thénardier, Rob Houchen as Marius, Bradley Jaden as Enjolras, Katy Secombe as Madame Thénardier, Shan Ako as Eponine and Lily Kerhoas as Cosette and an orchestra of over 65.

Hurrah for the green shoots in our beleaguered industry. Lots of venues are mounting new shows and bringing back our favourites over the next few weeks and months - albeit with social distancing and safety measures in place. Here are some of the live theatrical goodies on offer.

Today's top stories: Les Miserables lyricist Herbert Kretzmer dies at age 95.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that lyricist Herbert Kretzmer has died at age 95. Kretzmer is best known for writing the lyrics to the English musical adaptation of Les Miserables.

Tonight, it was reported that due to overwhelming demand the show's producers have announced a two week extension. The initial six weeks of performances have completely sold out. 

One Show More! Les Miserables - The Staged Concert will play a limited run at the Sondheim Theatre in London's West End, beginning December 5.

Today we rewind to 2014 for the second Broadway revival of Les Miserables. Les Miserables opened on March 23 at the Imperial Theatre, where it ran for 1024 performances.

When the Marsh family on the other side of the pond released their now famous 'One Day More' parody a few months ago, Long Island writer/performer Chris Leidenfrost was crestfallen. He too, had begun work on such a parody. Not only did they beat him to the punch, but it was brilliant!
