On Monday, August 26th, ELAN will be celebrating 15 years of serving the English-speaking arts community of Québec. ELAN's 15th anniversary AGM and party at the Rialto Theatre (5723 park Ave.) will be a celebration of Québec's flourishing English-language arts community, featuring a slideshow of memorable moments and people, performances by ELAN members, and a booklet of photos and stories commemorating ELAN's first 15 years. The AGM and Anniversary Party are open to both members and the general public.

Tony Award nominee Nick Cordero (A Bronx Tale, Waitress) has joined the previously announced performers Reeve Carney (Hadestown, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark) and Amy Spanger (Matilda, Elf) for the upcoming concert of the new musical Oswald on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 7.00pm at The Green Room 42 (570 10th Ave).

Inspired by the viral video phenomenon #LipSyncChallenge, the new special LIP SYNC TO THE RESCUE, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, star of CBS' hit comedy THE NEIGHBORHOOD, will be broadcast Monday, Sept. 9 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Also, country music superstar Luke Bryan is featured on the show when he surprises the Saratoga County, N.Y. deputy sheriff's office and helps them redo their original lip sync video.

In the summer of 1983, Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein put on a show that was light years ahead of the zeitgeist, vis-a-vis the awareness and acceptance of LGBTQ people in America, and about twenty years before the legalization of same-sex marriage. Yet, after a successful tryout at the Colonial Theatre in Boston, they boldly went where no Broadway musical had gone before when they opened LA CAGE AUX FOLLES at the Palace Theatre on August 21, 1983. Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston concludes its 51st Summer Season with LA CAGE, and I am pleased to report that the show continues to stand the test of time. The three most important components for a successful staging of this musical are the two actors who play the leading men, Georges (J.T. Turner) and Albin (James Darrah), and the dance troupe who comprise Les Cagelles, the drag performers at the Saint-Tropez title nightclub owned by the latter couple, and they collectively win the trifecta.

Following a hugely successful run last autumn, Birmingham Repertory Theatre in association with Lee Dean today announce the full cast and venues for their upcoming tour of The Lovely Bones. Melly Still directs Catrin Aaron (Abigail Salmon), Radhika Aggarwal (Heavenly Girl 2), Fanta Barrie (Lindsay Salmon), Charlotte Beaumont (Susie Salmon), Samuel Gosrani (Ray/Holliday), Leah Haile (Heavenly Girl 1), Avita Jay (Franny/Ruana), Andrew Joshi (Heavenly Girl 3), Nicholas Khan (Mr Harvey), Leigh Lothian (Ruth Connors), Huw Parmenter (Sam/Len), Lynda Rooke (Lyn), and Jack Sandle (Jack Salmon). The production opens at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on 10 September, with previews from 6 September, before embarking on a UK tour to Theatre Royal Nottingham, Exeter Northcott Theatre, Norwich Theatre Royal, The Lowry Salford, Rose Theatre Kingston, Hackney Empire, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Oxford Playhouse, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford and Chichester Festival Theatre.

Manhattan Theatre Club's Stargate Theatre 2019 Sharon Sullivan Company will perform an original work, Sweet Water, next Wednesday, August 14 at 7:00PM, Thursday, August 15 at 7:00PM, and Friday, August 16 at 7:00PM at New York City Center Stage II (131 W. 55th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues). Each performance will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes including a talkback onstage with the artists. Seating is limited.

Based on the book by L. Frank Baum and brilliantly adapted by Frank Gabrielson, this Young Performer's Edition features the music and lyrics of the MGM motion picture score by Harold Arlen & E. Y. Harburg.

Robert ('Bob') Ullman (left), the legendary theatre press agent, whose career included Ethel Merman and Mary Martin: Together on Broadway, A Chorus Line (from workshop to Public Theater to Broadway), Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne in The Visit, Lauren Bacall in Cactus Flower, The Dining Room, Driving Miss Daisy, Sunday in the Park with George, and over 150 additional Broadway and off-Broadway plays and musicals, died on July 31, 2019 in Bayshore, Long Island, New York. He was 97. The cause of death was cardiac arrest. Bob's death was announced by Rev. Joshua Ellis, a long-time Ullman friend, a former Broadway press agent, and now, an Interspiritual minister.

News executive Wendy Granato has been named the president and general manager of KTRK-TV, announced Wendy McMahon, president, ABC Owned Television Stations Group. In this new role, Ms. Granato has overall management responsibility for KTRK ABC13 and all of its ancillary businesses.

The past month came with many announcements regarding stage-to-screen news! In casting news, The Little Mermaid casting continues to go underway, with reports that Javier Bardem will play King Triton. Not only do we have the film to look forward to, but it was also announced that ABC will air The Little Mermaid Live! with Auli'i Cravalho and Queen Latifah. The highly-anticipated Cats film trailer was released, and a film adaptation of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was announced!
