Theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) announced the celebration of its 70th anniversary. Officially recognized on May 29th, the date former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared “Music Theatre International Day” in 2012, MTI is celebrating this milestone throughout the next year by showcasing the incredible talents of theatrical organizations around the world.

Flint Repertory Theatre is set to debut an LGBTQ+ rewrite of the longest-running musical in history, The Fantasticks, on June 3rd. 

Vagabond Players rounds out its 106th season with the world’s longest running musical, The Fantasticks (Book and Lyrics by Tom Jones, Music by Harvey Schmidt). This magical show was suggested by a play, Les Romanesque, by Edmond Rostand. Originally slated for the 104th season, Vagabond Players is thrilled to welcome back and present this production post- pandemic.

Today’s subject Michael John LaChuisa is currently living his theatre life as the composer for the upcoming production of Our Town at Shakespeare Theatre Company. The production runs May 12th through June 11th in STC’s Sidney Harman Hall and features (wait for it) a FULL cast of DC performers.

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre will conclude its 2021 “Rep Outdoors” Series with The Fantasticks in Concert. Due to forecasted weather between Thursday and Sunday, the event scheduled for 5 P.M. at Murray Park will now be performed at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre at 2 P.M. and again at 6 P.M.

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre will conclude its 2021 “Rep Outdoors” Series with The Fantasticks in Concert. The event, which is a one-night-only concert staging of the classic musical, will be performed live in Murray Park on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
