The Recording Academy® will announce nominees for the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards® on Nov. 24.

Today Atlantic Records announces the forthcoming release of Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (Music from The Netflix Original Motion Picture), the companion soundtrack to the Netflix holiday film.

Judy Chu (D-Pasadena) introduced the Mixed Earner Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Act to ensure that workers who earn a mix of traditional (W-2) and independent (e.g. 1099) employment income are able to fully access the unemployment assistance provided in the CARES Act.

Performing Rights Organizations, including the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), and SESAC have announced today that they are contributing to create a special fund as part of the MusiCares® COVID-19 Relief Fund to support music creators who are affected by the coronavirus pandemic

Music industry association The Latin Recording Academy®; ticket marketplace StubHub; major music companies Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group; financial institution City National Bank; concert promotion, artist management, touring, and publishing company Bill Silva Entertainment; and charitable foundations and trusts including the William, Jeff, and Jennifer Gross Family Foundation, George Harrison's Material World Foundation, the Michael Jackson Estate, Alicia Keys and She Is The Music and Yoshiki Foundation America are the latest organizations that have made major contributions to the COVID-19 Relief Fund established by the Recording Academy® and its affiliated charitable organization MusiCares®.

The Recording Academy® and its affiliated charitable foundation MusiCares® have established the COVID-19 Relief Fund to help people in the music industry affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak and subsequent cancellation of multiple music events. From hotel and bar gigs to major music festivals, COVID-19 is deeply impacting live music events, and the creative community behind it all.

This morning, nominees for the 62nd GRAMMY Awards were announced. 2019 Tony Award for Best Musical winner Hadestown and Best Revival of a Musical winner Oklahoma! were among the nominees for 'Best Musical Theater Album.' See the full list of musicals nominated below!

The Recording Academy announced today its newly elected National Officers of the Board of Trustees, voted upon at the organization's annual spring Board of Trustees meeting in May. Record producer Harvey Mason Jr. has been elected as the Chair of the Board of Trustees, and managing partner of Placement Music Tammy Hurt will serve as Vice Chair. Veteran music executive Terry Hemmings was re-elected Secretary/Treasurer and recording artist and founder/CEO of Swan Songs Christine Albert assumes the position of Chair Emeritus. All officer appointments were effective on June 1, 2019.

Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures has dated the Aretha Franklin biopic Respect for Aug. 14, 2020, according to Deadline.

Music's Biggest Night - the GRAMMYs - is here! Live from STAPLES Center, and hosted by Alicia Keys, the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT. 

Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures (MGM) announced today acclaimed stage director Liesl Tommy, the first black woman to earn a Tony Award nomination for Best Direction of a Play, is set to direct Respect, a feature film based on the life of music icon Aretha Franklin. As previously announced, Academy Award, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and Grammy Award winner Jennifer Hudson was personally handpicked by Ms. Franklin to portray her on the big screen.  Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise, creator of Nashville) will pen the screenplay following the rise of Ms. Franklin's career, from a child singing in her father's church's choir to an iconic and international superstar. The announcement was made today by Jonathan Glickman, President, Motion Picture Group.

The Recording Academy and its members across the country are celebrating today's passage of the Music Modernization Act by the Senate. This movement of the historic bill is a victory for all music creators, setting a clear path to the president's desk.

Following the death of musical and cultural legend Aretha Franklin, a special edition of “20/20” reflects on the life and legacy of the Queen of Soul who had an iconic six-decade career spanning an array of musical genres. The hour gives an in-depth look at Franklin's memorable career and the impact that she had on millions of people around the world. The special will feature footage of the star from the ABC News archives, including Diane Sawyer's trip with Franklin to her hometown of Detroit in 2000 and a never-before-seen video of Franklin on tour. The hour also features interviews with Harvey Mason Jr., who is making a biopic of Franklin starring actress Jennifer Hudson; and legendary director John Landis, who cast Franklin in “The Blues Brothers.” “Aretha: Soul, Song, R E S P E C T” airs on a special edition of “20/20,” Thursday, Aug. 16 (8:00–9:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC.
