The historic Drexel Theatre today announced the lineup for its 2019 America's Greatest Films series, made possible through a generous gift from PNC Bank. Launched in 2017 as a thank you to the community, the series offers free screenings of some of the nation's most beloved classic films on the first Tuesday of each month with a pre-screening introduction and post-screening Q&A.

Special is the World Premiere comedy that commemorates the 40th Anniversary of the worst variety show in television history with a behind-the-scenes imagined look of how The Star Wars Holiday Special came to be.

The Auditorium Theatre's National Geographic Live speaker series continues with its second presentation on January 24, 2019 with Pink Boots and a Machete, featuring primatologist and conservationist Dr. Mireya Mayor. Mayor - a former NFL cheerleader, daughter of Cuban immigrants, and mother of six - shares a behind-the-scenes look at the hardships and the dangers of life in the field, and discusses how she followed her unlikely dreams and became a respected primatologist, audacious explorer, National Science Foundation Fellow, Fulbright Scholar, and an Emmy Award-nominated wildlife correspondent for the National Geographic Channel.

On Monday night, Academy Award nominated actor Hugh Jackman received the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival at the Ritz Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, CA. Jackman was honored for his illustrious career in film and his recent work in The Front Runner. On hand to celebrate this momentous occasion were cast mate J.K. Simmons, Director Jason Reitman, and longtime friend Ben Mendelsohn.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 will follow summer 2016's blockbuster about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day. The San Diego International Film Festival (SDiFF), produced by the San Diego Film Foundation, announced today that they have honored Oscar-winning performer Keith Carradine with the Gregory Peck Award, and Zachary Levi, star of New Line Cinema's upcoming superhero adventure Shazam!, with the Humanitarian Award for his work with Operation Smile. The awards will be presented October 11th at The Night of the Stars Tribute at the Pendry San Diego in Downtown San Diego, CA.  

The American Veterans Center's annual broadcast special in honor of Veterans Day, American Valor: A Salute to Our Heroes, will once again return to television this year. More than $100,000 was raised at the exclusive one-night-only reading of Terms of Endearment presented by Berlanti Productions and Jessica Queller at the Geffen Playhouse, it was announced today. All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Stand Up To Cancer and Geffen Playhouse's New Play Development Program.

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival announced today that Academy Award® nominee Hugh Jackman will be honored with the thirteenth annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film. The award will be presented at a black-tie Gala dinner at The Ritz Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara on Monday, November 19, 2018. The multi-faceted Jackman may best be known for Oscar nominated films THE GREATEST SHOWMAN and LES MISERABLES, THE X-MEN FRANCHISE, and PRISONERS. Jackman will next be seen in Jason Reitman's THE FRONT RUNNER, in theaters November 6, 2018.
