Westchester Broadway Theatre will be donating a portion of all ticket sales for the opening night of SOUTH PACIFIC to sponsor the upcoming October 18th flight from Westchester with the second flight following in April of 2015.

Celebrated cabaret performer Jamie deRoy presents a special evening of her multi MAC Award-winning variety show, Jamie de Roy & friends tonight, September 22nd (7PM) at the famed New York jazz hot-spot Birdland (315 West 44th Street ~ between 8th & 9th Avenues) for its acclaimed 'Broadway at Birdland Series.'

Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestra's begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven- o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. For audience member's of a certain age, it's likely that they have heard of Monty Python. It all depends on just how surprised you are willling to be, just how comfortable you are at being caught off guard by a unique brand of comedy that Python's fans know only too well. Pre-show Googling or not, the true enjoyment of the show comes from just sitting back, relaxing and letting yoruself be wrapped in the warm embrace of some of the most weird, wacky, irreverant and witty comedy you ever likely to see in a Broadway musical.

When it comes to live theatre, there are many different ways to present it and at least two distinct camps. One is the minimalist, pared down production, often focused on story, dialogue, and character. The other is the big, highly technical spectacle filled with all sorts of theatrical magic tricks. With their current production of Mary Poppins, Theatre By the Sea has focused on the latter at the expense of the former, choosing gimmickry over truthful, enjoyable storytelling and characters. And unfortunately, that's only the beginning of the production's weak spots.

Just last night, award-winning cabaret performer Jamie deRoy celebrated Broadway with a roster of Tony Award winners on her Multi MAC award-winning Variety Show, Jamie deRoy & friends, at New York's wonderfully-appointed cabaret The Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street ~ btw. 5th & 6th Avenues).

Seeing great artists perform in great venues with great friends is my usual activity. Sunday afternoon was no different. The venue, Yankee Stadium. The artists, The New York Yankees. The friends. Haley Swindal (actor, singer, and granddaughter of George Steinbrenner, the man that built the place). Steve Tyrell (handsome singer extraordinaire, fresh from his recently completed sold out Carlyle engagement). Jamie deRoy, supreme friend, Broadway Producer/entertainer (taking time out from counting all the nominations her shows have gathered). And of course, best friend for 44 years Eda Sorokoff.

As the daughter of one of show business' most prominent couples, Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz, Emmy Award-winning singer/actress Lucie Arnaz has forged a distinct career of her own. She has had starring roles on Broadway, television and film, and has won awards including an Emmy, a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award. She brings her new show, Spring is Here, to The Carlyle for a limited five-night engagement, through April 19.
