Qtopia Sydney, the largest home of Queer history and culture in the world, will open the doors to 17 thought-provoking and immersive exhibitions this Friday, aligning Mardi Gras 2024.

The mainstay of Sydney’s high summer season, Sydney Festival, sails back this January with a first class line-up of World Premieres, extraordinary immersive experiences, cutting-edge public art, Australian exclusives, free events, trailblazing First Nations programming and an epic live music offering. 

Foundation Theatres, the owner and operator of the Capitol Theatre and Sydney Lyric Theatre, announced that it has submitted a development application to modify the existing underutilised rear stage of the Sydney Lyric to create a new intimate performance space with a capacity for 630. 

NIGHT OF JANUARY 16TH is a three-act courtroom drama by Ayn Rand, set in 1933. Director Pamela Amodio helps bring out the best in this phenomenal ensemble cast who all appear to be greatly enjoying their roles! The case involves a young woman named Karen Andre who is standing trial, being accused of the alleged murder of her former lover and boss, Bjorn Faulkner.

The musical phenomenon WICKED has begun performances in Australia's very own Emerald City at the Sydney Lyric Theatre. With huge anticipation and demand, the precinct around the Sydney Lyric has been decorated green to add to the excitement.

Live theatre will return to Avon Players in time for its 75th season as the company presents Night of January 16th running September 24-October 9. Night of January 16th is a courtroom drama by Ayn Rand.  The play depicts the trial of Karen Andre (Hosanna Phillips of Hazel Park), who is accused of murdering Bjorn Faulkner, her boss and secret lover.

The Herberger Theater Center will open its new outdoor stage, The Pavilion, to the public this upcoming Saturday, November 14. Built with the safety of guests, staff, and volunteers in mind, the outdoor space welcomes guests back to the theater with socially distanced seating at the Festival of the Arts.

The Board of Directors of The Serenbe Institute for Art, Culture, & the Environment has appointed Jennifer Bauer-Lyons as their second Executive Director succeeding Founding Executive Director John Graham who retired in December 2017. The Serenbe Institute for Art, Culture, & the Environment is the parent company for three award-winning and nationally recognized programming units: AIR Serenbe (founded in 2007), Serenbe Playhouse (founded in 2009) and Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre (founded in 2017). As the Executive Director, Bauer-Lyons will lead the execution and oversight of the strategic direction, operations, and business practices for the $3.5 million organization, while collaborating with the leaders of each of the programming units.
