Goodman Theatre announces two Future Labs FREE virtual readings for February and March—The Secretaries by Omer Abbas Salem, directed by Audrey Francis and Tokens of Promise by Ada A., directed by Sydney Chatman.

The Stratford Festival’s “Antony and Cleopatra” will premiere Thursday, February 11 at 2 pm Pacific and is available on demand through May 12, 2021. The lavish Stratford Festival film is free to Center Theatre Group subscribers and supporters and $10 for all others.

Next up in First Stage's Through Our Lens 2021 Virtual Season of Plays will be Arthur Miller's powerful and timely drama THE CRUCIBLE. Winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award and inspired by the McCarthy hearings of the 1950s, the play takes audiences back to a fictionalized account of the Salem, Massachusetts witch trials that took place during the years 1692 and 1693.

Chicago theatres are presenting a wide range of online productions and events to celebrate Black History Month. Theatre venues in Chicago and across the world remain closed due to the pandemic yet the creative spirit remains bright.

Asolo Rep continues its 2021 outdoor season with the launch of the rolling world premiere of Cheryl L. West's Fannie: The Music and Life of Fannie Lou Hamer. Directed by Henry Godinez with Music Direction and Arrangements by Felton Offard, Asolo Rep will start the “roll,” followed by productions to be announced at Goodman Theatre and Seattle Rep.

Arizona Theatre Company, in collaboration with The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre and Winding Road Theater Ensemble, is producing RomeroFest, a month-long celebration of the diverse, thoughtful and impactful works of ATC Playwright-in-Residence Elaine Romero with digital performances by theatre companies across the U.S. and in Mexico in March.

Red Bull Theater today announced that submissions will begin for their 11th annual festival of 10-minute plays of heightened language and classic themes. Six brand new plays, inspired by this year’s theme: “Restoration,” will be selected through an open submission process to premiere alongside commissions from C. A. Johnson and José Rivera.

Goodman Theatre announces the full cast for the FREE live reading of Layalina, January 30 at 7pm, continuing work on the first project of the new Future Labs program. The full SWANA (South West Asian, North African) cast all make their Goodman debuts with this reading; find the full cast list below.

Portland Center Stage has commissioned four new plays from celebrated writers Brittany K. Allen, Christina Anderson, Christopher Chen, and Portland-based Anya Pearson. The commissions are part of the PCS Remix: Commissions program, which was launched to lift up some of the most exciting voices in American theater while stages are dark.

Porchlight Music Theatre’s free virtual series Sondheim @ 90 Roundtable with host Michael Weber concludes with two final episodes: Passion, with guests John Doyle, Judy Kuhn and Kathy Voytko, debuting Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. CST and Company, with guestsRaúl Esparza, Robert Falls and Lonny Price, debuting Saturday, Feb 6  at 7 p.m. CST. 

Sideshow Theatre Company is pleased to welcome eleven new ensemble members and artistic associates. Ensemble members include Wardell Julius Clark, Greg Geffrard, Arti Ishak, Krystal Ortiz, Gabrielle Randle-Bent and Netta Walker. Artistic Associates include Patrick Agada, J. Nicole Brooks, Brynne Frauenhoffer, Jyreika Guest and Sarah Price.

Underscore Theatre Company is offering UNDERSCORE DEVELOPS, a new initiative as part of its readings and workshop development series. While in-person productions are not possible, Underscore continues its mission to support writers by offering new musicals in progress the opportunity to explore the development process virtually.

Peninsula Players Theatre has announced the cast for 'The Dust of Death,' an adaptation by Neil Brookshire of Fred Merrick White's science-fiction short story, 'The Dust of Death: The Story of the Great Plague of the Twentieth Century.'

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation has announced that the 2020 Joe A. Callaway Awards will be awarded to Danya Taymor for excellence in directing for Heroes of the Fourth Turning (Playwrights Horizons) and Travis Wall for excellence in choreography for The Wrong Man (MCC Theater).

The season kicks off with Laura Osnes in Concert on February 5 and 6, with music direction by Fred Lassen.

After two preliminary rounds, twenty finalists in the monologue category will be invited to compete by live stream from the Goodman Theatre on March 22, 2021 at 6pm, provided there are no COVID 19 restrictions are in place to prevent a live stream.

Full casting was announced today for PrideArts’ virtual reading of Christopher Shinn’s OTHER PEOPLE, a comedy set around the holidays in New York City’s East Village, involving relationships past and present among four men and one woman. Chicago actor and director Tim Ashby, who will direct the reading, announced his cast today.
