Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit Broadway musical based on the classic Billy Wilder film comes to Blackfriars this May! Sunset Blvd. follows departed star of the silent screen era and tortured soul, Norma Desmond. Her glamour and fame have faded all but in her mind and she longs for her grand return to the silver screen. When she accidentally crosses paths with Joe Gillis, a struggling Hollywood screen-writer, their subsequent passionate and volatile relationship leads to a startling conclusion.

Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the second annual Anything Goes Gala on Saturday, February 1, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Hotel, 101 West Franklin Street. The gala will raise important funds for Virginia Rep and highlight professional theatre in Central Virginia. The black tie fundraiser will include cocktails in the Rotunda and dinner in the Main Ball Room, silent and live auctions, and featured entertainment from Scott Wichmann (Say Goodnight Gracie, The Producers, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Stacey Cabaj (My Fair Lady, Sound of Music) and straight from Broadway as the lead role in the revival of Annie, Taylor Richardson. Taylor used to live in Richmond and played Susan Waverly in Virginia Rep's production of White Christmas.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ASTORIA! Exhibition Opens Today at Moving Image

Museum of the Moving Image pays tribute to the legacy of filmmaking in Astoria with an exhibition that traces the history of the Astoria studio, a local landmark with deep roots in the culture of New York City. Lights, Camera, Astoria!, on view from today, October 26, 2013, through February 9, 2014, explores each phase of the site from its start as Paramount Pictures's East Coast production facility in the 1920s, a center for independent filmmaking in the 1930s, the U.S. Army Pictorial Center from World War II into the Cold War, the site's rebirth in the late 1970s, to the present day Kaufman Astoria Studios, a thriving motion picture and television studio, and a vibrant cultural hub that includes Museum of the Moving Image, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, and restaurants and cafes.

A lineup of top entertainers including, Julie Andrews, Lucie Arnaz, Tony Bennett, Tim Conway, Tina Fey, Rashida Jones, Vicki Lawrence, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short, Rosemary Watson and others will salute Carol Burnett at the 16th Annual Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. The evening will pay tribute the humor and accomplishments of Carol Burnett, and will be taped by WETA Washington, D.C. as Carol Burnett: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize. The program will air on PBS stations nationwide November 24, 2013 (check local listings). Artists are subject to change.

When The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre's producers were working on putting together the 2013 Season, they decided to include shows that were hits both on the stage and the silver screen. 2013 became the year that Broadway and Hollywood met at the Frederick dinner theater, the area's only theater open and producing shows 52 weeks of the year. Following Way Off Broadway's productions of Steel Magnolias, 9 to 5 - The Musical, and Legally Blonde, Way Off Broadway's creative team knew they needed to find the perfect show to fill the fall slot and cap off the 'Broadway Meets Hollywood' Season before moving into the holidays.

1993's rarely produced Sunset Boulevard is a flawed, somewhat boring musical play that satisfies best with the casting of an actress of great star quality as Norma Desmond, one whose face could have convincingly lit up a silent film screen. MTW has found its star in Valerie Perri, and under Larry Raben's strong, resourceful staging, Sunset Boulevard is 5-star entertainment.

Casting for Musical Theatre West's (MTW) production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's international hit musical Sunset Boulevard , has been announced by MTW Executive Director/Producer Paul Garman and Director Larry Raben. The 1950 Oscar-winning motion picture of the same title first starred screen legends Gloria Swanson (as Norma Desmond) and William Holden (as Joe Gillis) before it opened as a musical in London's West End starring Patti LuPone and Kevin Anderson at the Adelphi Theatre July 12, 1993 where it ultimately ran for 1529 performances.

Sunset Boulevard, the Musical Theatre West (MTW) production of the Broadway hit based on the 1950 Oscar-winning movie about a former star of the silent screen era living in the past in her decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street, has its much anticipated Southern California 20th Anniversary revival July 12 through July 28, 2013 at the exquisite 1,070-seat Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, CA. MTW Executive Director/Producer Paul Garman has appointed Larry Raben as Director with Musical Direction by David Lamoureux and Musical Staging by John Todd. MTW's Sunset Boulevard opens exactly 20 years to the day of the show's world premiere in London at the Adelphi Theatre where it ran for 1529 performances.
