BroadwayWorld DFW's Zac Thriffiley talks with Mariah Lots about the challenges and joys of playing one of the most complex roles in contemporary musical theatre.

Iconic singer, songwriter, author and activist Judy Collins, the 2019 recipient of the Joe's Pub Vanguard Award & Residency, continues her takeover with an eight-night run, November 18-27, celebrating her latest album Winter Stories. A collaboration with critically acclaimed Norwegian folk artist Jonas Fjeld, and masterful bluegrass band Chatham County Line, Winter Stories is a collection of songs that capture the sounds and feeling of the winter season.

The experience of seeing the Grammy and Tony Award-winning stage adaptation of ONCE - THE MUSICAL begins the minute you enter the theatre as you make your way to your assigned seat. It starts with a welcoming, celebratory environment where music is communally enjoyed by both the talented artists on stage and the audience who have come to immerse themselves in this euphoric special space. Broadway veteran Scott Waara has made a career of playing heartfelt characters and bringing something personal to each and every part he plays. Currently performing in 3-D Theatricals production of 'Once, The Musical', Waara re-creates the role he has performed (now for the 3rd time) and I had a chance to sit down with him and chat about life, family, and his history with 'Once, The Musical'.

Opening night is tonight, Saturday, October 12.

A new recording is released today of the Academy Award-winning song Falling Slowly, introducing Daniel Healy as Guy and Emma Lucia as Girl. They will lead the cast of the first UK Tour of Once, launching in January 2020 following a run at Fairfield Halls, Croydon from Thursday 19 December to Saturday 11 January.

Immediately upon entering the theater, you'll realize Once isn't going to be your typical musical theatre fare.

Today Rwandan trio The Good Ones have shared the new song “Where Did You Go Wrong, My Love” featuring Wilco's Nels Cline. The song is about a father's attempt to rescue his daughter from going down a bad path in life.

With its Autumn 2019 Season now in full swing, the Belgrade Theatre is already looking forward to another exciting year ahead with the announcement of its Spring Season 2020. 

WFUV, New York (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) It's Bruce Springsteen's 70th birthday on Monday, September 23, and 90.7 WFUV in New York is celebrating this local hero in a significant and heartfelt way.   That evening, from 9-10 p.m. EDT, WFUV will premiere its original program, The Bruce Project, a one-hour special of live covers of Springsteen's songs by artists who consider him an influence and inspiration. The starry lineup of performers includes The Head and the Heart, the Amy Ray Band, The Hold Steady's Craig Finn, The Tallest Man on Earth, and Robert Randolph & the Family Band. All performances were recorded at FUV's Studio A at Fordham University in the Bronx.  

It's rare that a tale of unrequited love is experienced as sweet and uplifting. The Seacoast Repertory Theatre's newest production, Once, is that tale.

Glen Hansard returns to the U.S. next week in support of his new record, This Wild Willing and has shared a new live performance video for the song, “Leave a Light”.  This Wild Wiling garnered the best reviews of his 20+ year career with VICE calling it a “reinvention”, MOJO deeming it “an immersive, deeply satisfying work” and NPR Musicsaying, “These songs feel rawer, broader, more sweeping and emotional and expansive”. 

For The Good Ones' new album, Rwanda, You Should Be Loved, bandleader Adrien Kazigira originally composed over forty songs. Most were meditations on his now thirteen-year-old daughter, Marie-Claire, and the life-threatening tumor that has afflicted her left eye. The recording was done live without overdubs on Adrien's farm and was imbued with the passing of producer Ian Brennan's mother during the days that they were there together as well as a former founding band member recently having succumbed to his own demons.

On September 6, 2019 singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jake Clemons will release his sophomore album, Eyes On The Horizon, produced by Jake Hull and Clemons and mixed by legendary and award winning producer Eddie Kramer ( Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Beatles etc.,) and distributed by BFD / The Orchard. The ten song collection has Clemons once again creating a new chapter and taking it a step further by adding his voice to those seeking to find clarity in a complicated world and expanding both his musical vision and philosophical perspective.
