Glen Berger's 'SONG OF SPIDER-MAN' Book Hits Shelves Today

Playwright Glen Berger, who worked alongside Julie Taymor, Bono and The Edge on SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, will see his book 'Song of Spider-Man: The Inside Story of the Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History' hit the shelves today, November 5, 2013.

American Conservatory Theater Extends UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL thru Nov 23

Due to popular demand and incredible ticket sales, American Conservatory Theater announced today the extension of Glen Berger's captivating solo drama Underneath the Lintel, starring Academy Award nominee David Strathairn (Lincoln, Good Night, and Good Luck, Scorched at A.C.T). Tickets are now on sale through Saturday, November 23.

Justin Matthew Sargent , the new web-slinging superhero in Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, sang the National Anthem at the sold-out preseason game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat last night at the Barclays Center. Sargent's performance of the Anthem lead directly into a 10 minute ceremony during which the Nets retired the No. 5 jersey of Jason Kidd, one of the franchise's best players and new coach, to the rafters. SPIDER-MAN co-book writer Glen Berger has written a 'tell-all' book about the behind-the-scenes battle that took place during the development of the Broadway musical SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK. Titled 'The Song of Spider-Man: The Inside Story of the Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History', the book will hit shelves on November 5th from Simon & Schuster Publishing. Jason Gotay to Swing into SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK as 'Peter Parker' Alternate in October

Jason Gotay, who recently appeared on Broadway as "Randall" in Bring It On: The Musical, will join the company of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark as the Peter Parker / Spider-Man Alternate. Gotay will play select performances at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street) with a varied week to week performance schedule beginning at the end of October. Matt Wilkas will continue to perform the role of the alternate in the interim.

Injured SPIDER-MAN Actor Daniel Curry To Take Action in Court

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, last month, Daniel Curry, an actor from SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK was tragically injured during a performance of the accident-plagued Broadway musical. On August 15, the performance was halted and audience members sent home after a piece of equipment pinned an actor's leg underneath it, causing the injury.

During the 'back-to-school' period, Spider-Man is giving free limited edition Spider-Man Turn off The Dark backpacks. Some backpacks have a 'golden ticket' that gives them backstage access to meet cast members and have a backstage tour. This weekend two lucky winners were taken back and met Green Goblin and others, and took a tour. Check out the two winners, Giancarlo and Cosima de Chimay, with cast members Alex Michael Stoll and Robert Cuccioli below!

In the video below, watch Reeve Carney take his final bow as the original lead Peter Parker aka Spider-Man on Broadway before announcing his successor, Justin Matthew Sargent (Rock of Ages). Reeve played his final performance yesterday, September 15, 2013, and leaves to begin shooting for the new Showtime series Penny Dreadful. Sargent began performances today, September 16, 2013. Sargent will play evening performances at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street) beginning tonight, September 16. Reeve Carney, the original lead Peter Parker, played his final performance last night in order to begin shooting for the new Showtime series Penny Dreadful.
