David Strathairn Will Headline ACT's UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today two additional productions for the company's 47th subscription season: Glen Berger's acclaimed solo drama, Underneath the Lintel, starring Emmy Award winner and Academy Award nominee David Strathairn, and Beatrice Basso and Linda Alper's new translation of Eduardo De Filippo's poignant Italian comedy, Napoli!, featuring A.C.T. favorites Marco Barricelli and Stratford Festival star Seana McKenna. These two productions join the previously announced 1776, A Christmas Carol, Major Barbara, Venus in Fur, and The Orphan of Zhao. The final production for the 2013-14 season will be announced at a later date.

Julie Taymor's SPIDER-MAN Lawsuit Set for Trial, May 28

According to The Hollywood Reporter, U.S. District Court Judge Katherine B. Forrest announced last Friday, March 15, that fired director Julie Taymor's lawsuit against SPIDER-MAN's producers will go to trial on May 28, 2013. The court battle has now been dragging on for seven months with no clear indication of why a settlement has not been reached.

First Folio Theatre Presents UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL, Beginning 3/27

First Folio Theatre (Mayslake Peabody Estate, 31st St. & Rt. 83) presents the acclaimed play UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL, directed by Jeff Award nominee Alison C. Vesely, previewing March 27, opening March 30 and running through April 28, 2013. The production stars Kristine Thatcher, a member of the 2001 Tony Award-winning Victory Gardens Playwrights Ensemble, where her play Voice of Good Hope premiered and was nominated for the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work in 2000. Thatcher most recently appeared as Terri in Jeffrey Sweet's new play Immoral Imperatives. Prior to that, she appeared in First Folio Theatre's production of Macbeth. Other credits include "Hannah Jarvis" in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia at the Goodman Theatre, "Candida" in George Bernard Shaw's Candida at Writers' Theatre, and "Regan" in King Lear and "Kate" in Taming of the Shrew at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

Julie Taymor & SPIDER-MAN Producers Fail to Reach Settlement

The SPIDER-MAN court battle continues, as the legal proceedings between show producers and fired director Julie Taymor have now lasted seven months. According to the New York Times, federal Judge Katherine B. Forrest has 'expressed frustration that an agreement had not been completed in spite of the parties' coming to terms in principle in August.'

In UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL, a librarian pursues the mystery of a travel guidebook that is 113 years overdue. This one-man show features James Ridge who was last seen at MCT in DICKENS IN AMERICA. UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL performs in the Broadway Theatre Center's Studio Theatre in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

New Georges Presents the World Premiere of GOLDOR $ MYTHYKA: A HERO IS BORN, Beginning 4/3

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Producing Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Deputy Artistic Director; Jaynie Saunders Tiller, Managing Director) will present the World Premiere of Lynn Rosen's (Apple Cove with Women's Project) GOLDOR $ MYTHYKA: A HERO IS BORN directed by Shana Gold (Food and Fadwa with New York Theatre Workshop) April 3-27 at The New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street between Greenwich and Washington). Casting will be announced on Friday, February 22. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 1.

Venice Theatre Announces 2013-2014 Season

Early Monday evening, the Venice Theatre announced their 2013 to 2014 theatre season at a special Kickoff gathering at their theatre located at 140 West Tampa Avenue in Venice, Florida. THE OTHER PLACE Hosts Sloan Panel Discussion Today

Manhattan Theatre Club announces the guests for the upcoming Sloan panel discussing Sharr White's The Other Place. The panel will focus on the role of science in the play and will feature novelist Stefan Merrill Block, author of The Story of Forgetting; playwright Sharr White; neuroscientist Heather Berlin; and genetic counselor Jill Goldman. The panel will be moderated by NPR's Robert Krulwich. The panel will follow the 2 PM matinee performance today, January 27 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

SPIDER-MAN Producers Expected to Reach Settlement With Julie Taymor This Week

The New York Post reports today that director Julie Taymor's lawsuit against SPIDER-MAN producers is close to a settlement. 'We anticipate notifying the Court within the next week that a final settlement agreement has been executed,' Taymor's attorney, Charles T. Spada, wrote yesterday.

It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger(Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, 'Big Love'). SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is now in its 2nd smash year on Broadway, and has been seen by more than 1 million audience members from around the world. It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger(Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, 'Big Love'). Peter Parker died in the 700th and final issue of 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' and in the video below, the cast tributes the character along with a slew of other stars. Check it out below!
