Casting is complete for the Broadway production of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, Aaron Sorkin's new play, directed by Bartlett Sher, and based on Harper Lee's classic novel. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD will begin previews on Thursday, November 1 and open on Thursday, December 13 at the Shubert Theatre (225 West 44 Street).

The new production of Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Leiber & Stoller, officially opened last night, Sunday, July 22. The vibrant nine-member ensemble led by director choreographer Joshua Bergasse brings new life to more than 30 classic songs including 'Stand by Me,' 'I'm a Woman,' 'Hound Dog,' 'Fools Fall In Love,' 'On Broadway,' 'Yakety Yak,' 'Pearl's a Singer,' 'Treat Me Nice,' 'There Goes My Baby,' 'Love Potion #9,' 'Jailhouse Rock,' and 'Spanish Harlem.'

Emily Kramer Golinkoff is a 33 year old powerhouse with big eyes and a fatal disease. In 2011 Emily's condition was deteriorating; she was running out of treatment options, and it was terrifying. Instead of giving up, she decided to do something about it. Along with her mother, Liza Kramer, Emily co-founded Emily's Entourage, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit dedicated to accelerating research and drug development for Cystic Fibrosis. The urgency of Emily's condition is spurring revolutionary research and drug development that could help the roughly 30 million people worldwide who suffer from a genetic disease caused by a nonsense mutation, including forms of muscular dystrophy and cancer, as well as Emily's rare form of Cystic Fibrosis.

On Monday, June 25, Ellen Barkin, Eric Bogosian, Edie Falco, Gideon Glick, Josh Hamilton, Lee Pace and Mark Ruffalo appeared in a one-night-only reading of Larry Kramer's The Destiny of Me, to benefit The New Group.  Trip Cullman directed with an introduction by Tony Kushner. An agreement has just been reached between Rudinplay and the Harper Lee Estate regarding the new Aaron Sorkin penned stage adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird. The play will go forward as scheduled, opening at Broadway's Shubert Theatre in December.

The Broadway-bound production of To Kill a Mockingbird has been in legal trouble for some time, but answers may be coming soon. Yesterday an Alabama court judge granted Scott Rudin's request for an expedited trial and agreed to move the adjudication to the Southern New York circuit. The two-week trial is scheduled to begin June 4.

Audiences have started to listen again at Studio 54. That's because Children of a Lesser God is back, and it officially opened last night on Broadway.
