A Celebration That Takes The Cake! Minnesota Bundt Day is: November 15th
by Robert Diamond - Nov 15, 2013

Nordic Ware, creator of the iconic Bundt Pan, is celebrating Minnesota Bundt Day on Friday, November 15, 2013. This special day each year was originally proclaimed by the Governor of Minnesota in honor of Nordic Ware's 60 th anniversary, making 2013 the eighth annual Minnesota Bundt Day while coinciding with National Bundt Day! The celebration signifies the time just before the Thanksgiving holiday in which most families are pulling out recipes, preheating the oven and baking more than ever! Consumers will be reminded to get their kitchens ready for the holiday baking season by making sure they have the proper tools to create their finest culinary delights, as well as the inspiration necessary to make it a social and family experience. National Bundt Day pays homage to an iconic piece of American culture that often was the first baking experience for many. The celebration also collectively demonstrates that we know our way around the kitchen once again no matter how busy, how old or how foreign an experience it may seem to be.

Bookworks Presents Titles on Wild Animals
by BWW News Desk - Nov 12, 2013

Last week we began our annual gift book series with some titles on wild animals (and teddy bears); this week we continue with subjects farther down the food chain, like Fruit: Edible, Inedible, Incredible by seed morphologist Wolfgang Stuppy and visual artist Rob Kesseler (Earth Aware, $35). They use scanning electron microscopy to produce images that are then colored, resulting in striking and fantastic figures. A short-rayed burr daisy looks like a carnival mask, an Antarctic hair grass becomes an aqua and golden fishing lure. Breathtaking.
