The National Youth Theatre and University of Hull have released brand new images and the live recording from their production On the Edge, which was performed live at the global UN climate conference, COP26 in Glasgow today, Friday 5 November.

FRIGID New York will present the 10th Annual Gotham Storytelling Festival at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery), November 2-14. Performances will also be available to livestream from home. Tickets are available on a sliding scale ($20 in-person; $15 online, suggested) and are available for advance purchase.

The Belgrade Theatre has announced details of the first shows in its Spring Season from March to July 2022. Featuring The Bone Sparrow as part of their Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 programme, an adaptation of George Orwell's classic satirical story Animal Farm, and the world premiere of Fighting Irish, co-directed by the Belgrade's Artistic Director, Hamish Glen, and Co-Artistic Director for 2021, Corey Campbell, from Coventry writer Jamie McGough.

With libreto, lyrics and direction by Ze Henrique de Paula and original music and musical direction by Fernanda Maia, the language used is inspired by German cabarets, strongly referenced in Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weil. George Orwell's Animal Farm takes place on a farm led initially by Mr. Jones. However, dissatisfied with the domination, the animals decide to make a revolution. They organize and expel Mr. Jones from the farm, as they no longer accept being treated as human slaves. Pigs now lead the farm, considering themselves the most intelligent animals. One of the century's greatest writers, Orwell paints a stark portrayal of power's relationship to the individual and society and its processes.

Full casting and the complete tour schedule are announced for the highly anticipated upcoming production of George Orwell's classic satirical fable, Animal Farm, adapted and directed by the multi award-winning Robert Icke (The Doctor, Hamlet, Mary Stuart, Oresteia, 1984).

THE HUNGER ARTIST by Franz Kafka, starring Larry Cedar, makes its debut at this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival, marking the fifth in a series of one-man literary stagings adapted by Cedar beginning in 2013 with ORWELLIAN (based on the works of George Orwell), NOTES FROM THE UNDERGROUND (Fyodor Dostoevsky),  LETTER TO MY FATHER (Kafka), and THE BURROW (Kafka). 

The Book of Moron, a new comedy written by and starring Robert Dubac (The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?), will play at The SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street) beginning August 12, it was announced today by Moment-to-Moment Productions.  Opening night is set for August 23.

Award-winning theatre company Son of Semele Ensemble is announcing its departure from their Silver Lake home of 18 years. Led by Founding Artistic Director Matthew McCray since 2000, the company has been in residence at 3301 Beverly Boulevard in a black box theatre they created in 2003.

On May 26th, the NYPFF will present Poland's 2021 Academy Award submission NEVER GONNA SNOW AGAIN as an opening night selection.

Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin is currently working on developing Game of Thrones as a stage play for Broadway, the West End and Australia. Martin is writing the play alongside Duncan MacMillan, and it is set to be directed by Dominic Cooke. The first show is expected to launch in 2023.

Gate Generations is the creative digital response to the theatre's extraordinary 40-year history from the venue's Young Associates.  It offers an unprecedented opportunity to glimpse into the Gate's celebrated archive with five intriguing vignettes inspired by some of its landmark productions. 

The Actors' Gang Theater announces a new Axis Mundi evening as part of its digital season: Axis Mundi – In Conversation with Tim Robbins and theatrical legend and visionary director, Peter Brook. The free event, produced in partnership with Fundación Teatro a Mill, will be translated into French and Spanish and will be streamed Thursday, March 25th at 7 pm PST through Zoom and Facebook Live. The live translation is only available through Zoom.

Steppenwolf has announced a new offering joining the virtual lineup—the world premiere audio adaptation of I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, based on the book by Erika L. Sánchez and adapted for audio from the stage play by acclaimed playwright Isaac Gómez and co-directed by ensemble members Sandra Marquez and Audrey Francis.

The upcoming guest lineup has been announced for the “Live at The Lortel” virtual conversation series. In February, fans can listen to conversations with actress Krysta Rodriguez (February 1), drag artist and political activist Marti Cummings (February 8), actor Michael Potts (February 15), playwright Lynn Nottage (February 22).

The Alliance Theatre today announced updates to its 2020/21 season, including a new “Under The Tent” series to provide more socially-distanced performance options.  The “Under the Tent” series will include a concert staging of the Broadway hit WORKING: A MUSICAL, as well as concert-style performances of BEAUTIFUL BLACKBIRD LIVE and more.
