Military Channel to Honor Late General Norman Schwarzkopf, 1/8

The Military Channel announced today it will dedicate a night of programming on Tuesday, January 8 starting at 8PM E/P, to commemorate the celebrated career of retired General Norman Schwarzkopf, who passed away last week. General Schwarzkopf led the allied forces to a routing of Iraq in the 1991 Persian Gulf War, becoming one of the nation's most celebrated military heroes of the era.
Brett Smock Joins Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival

Brett Smock has joined the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival as general manager and associate artistic director. In this role, Smock will work with Producing Director Ed Sayles and assume the responsibilities currently assigned to the interim managing director, while placing a particular emphasis on talent negotiations, cost control and new play development. Smock is based in New York City. He is a well-known creative producer, director and choreographer within the theater industry with a special interest in developing new plays and musicals.

Homeless youth working towards brighter futures will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform with Broadway stars at Covenant House's A Night of Broadway Stars gala tonight, June 12 on the stage of Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center. A Night of Broadway Stars starts at 6:00 pm with a cocktail reception. The show begins at 7:30 pm, followed by a dessert reception with the stars.

President George HW Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush honored the Ogunquit Playhouse by attending yesterday's (June 3rd) Matinee performance of Always, Patsy Cline, now playing through June 16. Sally Struthers (as Louise) and Carter Calvert (as Patsy Cline) welcomed them backstage during intermission, where President and Mrs. Bush exalted both leading lady's performances. The former President and First Lady "loved" the show, and the cast, musicians and audience members loved seeing them as well. Check out the photo below!

On Friday, May 25th, at 12:45, nearly 100 Rosie's Theater Kids (RTKids) program students from the second and third grade will meet in the "gymatorium" at PS 51, the Elias Howe School, to celebrate National Tap Dance Day with a 30 minute performance. National Tap Dance Day falls on May 25 every year and is a celebration of tap dancing as an American art form.
