Urinetown, a musical written by Greg Kotis, with music by Mark Hollman, imagines a 20-year-drought and the stress it puts on a large city. With water a scarce commodity, private toilets are outlawed. Public restrooms are controlled by the Urine Good Company (UGC), a large corporation that charges for use of public toilets.

In 1929, several of the city's most prominent individuals and families were determined to become part of a national trend of community theaters that relied on volunteers to bring live theater to the public.

The Long Beach Playhouse is pleased to celebrate this holiday season with its traditional offering of A Christmas Carol in its Mainstage Theatre. On March 23, 2018, the Long Beach Playhouse kicks off its 28th annual New Works Festival (NWF) in its Studio Theatre.

The organizers behind the upcoming inaugural Mammoth Film Festival are unleashing Round 2 of their Official Selections lineup for the festival taking place February 8-11. The organizers are thrilled to announce an unprecedented 120 film projects in competition (15 features, 6 of which are world premieres and 105 shorts) at this first-year event. As traveling salesman Willy Loman's fears of failure envelope him, his wife Linda's unwavering love and support never falter, even as the disillusionment of their sons Happy and Biff send the family into an emotional tailspin. As Willy sinks deeper into schizophrenia, his ongoing delusions and hallucinations about the past make it increasing difficult for him to function in his stressful reality. Taking what he thinks is the easy way out since he believes he is worth more dead than alive, Willy falls deeper into overwhelming depression from which there is no escape.

The Long Beach Playhouse proudly presents Death of a Salesman on its Mainstage Theater from May 23 to June 20, 2015. Written by Arthur Miller, the play centers on the life of Willy Loman, a traveling salesman who is past his prime, is struggling to remain relevant and is seeing his life and values reflected back to him through his two sons. His wife, Linda, is faithful in her love and her defense and protection of him, despite his many flaws.
