After more than 5,000 auditions in a coast-to-coast search, ANNIE has announced casting for the orphans for the new production of the classic Tony Award-winning Broadway musical. ANNIE will open on Broadway in Fall 2012 at a Nederlander theatre to be announced. (All except three Broadway guest artist mentors including Liza Gennaro who directed me in my college production of ON THE TOWN and is the associate choreographer of Peter PANtomime). I brought my three-year-old last night and he was captivated. Just the fact that he sat still for an hour impressed me, but more impressive were a few of the young Broadway stars-to-be on the stage. I guess that's what you get when you attend a New York City dance recital. Some of the kids here are the real deal! It's a long way from my strip-mall dance studio in Connecticut, that's for sure.

The hit off Broadway family musical 'Freckleface Strawberry' based on the popular best-selling children's book by Julianne Moore, will be leaving their playground at the New World Stages, 340 West 50th Street on Sunday, April 24th and going on Spring Recess. The musical will reopen on August 3rd at their new home, the brand new MMAC (pronounced 'Mack') Theatre , 248 West 60th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and 11th Avenue.
