From August 10 to 26, the Negro Ensemble Company, Inc. (NEC), in conjunction with their residency at Penn Live Arts, will perform the world premiere of 'Mecca Is Burning' at Harlem School of the Arts.

vMHF Theatricals will present HONOR by William R. Duell, a virtual reading to benefit the Wordsymth Theater Company, Houston, TX. 

The 48th Annual Vivian Robinson AUDELCO Awards occurred virtually on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 7pm hosted by Roger Guenveur Smith, the AUDELCO award winning actor, best known for his “The Huey P. Two of history's most famous biblical figures, King Herod the Great and Roman Governor Pontius Pilate, will be played by women in the Easter drama, The Rope and The Cross, to be staged at the New Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre Long Island on Easter Sunday, April 21.

Audelco Award winning actors Maurice Carlton and Fulton C. Hodges have joined the cast of the staged reading of playwright Bless ji Jaja's drama Barberdashers- Haircuts and Male Grooming, an installment in the Frank Silvera Writer's Workshop monthly reading series in partnership with The Billie Holiday Theatre.

The piece is historically NEC's most famous and successful play. It was produced last fall at Theatre 80 St. Marks as the culminating event of NEC's landmark 50th season, playing to full houses and glowing notices. The cast of that revival will return intact for the Gene Frankel Theatre run.

According to the New York Post's Page Six, former New York Ranger Sean Avery has quit just two days before the November 6 opening of his off-Broadway play NEGATIVE IS POSITIVE at Theater for the New City.

Theater For The New City presents the world premiere of Christy-Smith Sloman's provocative new play Negative Is Positive. This production is also the New York stage debut of Sean Avery, former NHL star, New York Ranger and LGBT advocate. Often overlooked today, her story and legacy will be told by Tony Award nominee Hope Clarke (Caroline or Change, Jelly's Last Jam) in the world premiere of Steve Willis' Diana Sands: A Certain Toughness of Spirit. Directed by Sue Lawless, the show begins performances tonight, May 15 at the Workshop Theatre Company's Jewel Box Theatre, at 312 West 36th Street, on the 4th floor.
