Tonight, FOX will air their third live musical production. Following in the footsteps of Grease and A Christmas Story, the network will be presenting Jonathan Larson's Rent, a rock musical that is loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's 1896 opera, La boheme. The story follows a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in New York City's East Village in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
So it's been more than a year…! I previously wrote for BroadwayWorld's High School Center from 2016-2017 as a junior and senior in high school. With senior year stress, college craziness, and this huge transition in life, I had to take a break from writing. During the break from my last post A LOT has happened.

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of taking Fredi Walker-Browne's three day workshop at my school, the OCVTS: Performing Arts Academy. Being able to take such an informative class on the entertainment world was eye opening and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to take this class at my school as both a freshman and senior. When learning about show business and casting I found myself reflecting on how big the performance world is, and how thankful I am to be apart of such a crazy yet thrilling field.
I'll never forget the day I found out the first-ever BroadwayCon was happening. I saw the headline in big, bold letters, and could barely believe my eyes. I WENT INSANE (tbh, that's an understatement). I began jumping up and down, screaming at the top of my lungs!!! For years and years, I'd been constantly rambling on about how desperately I wanted a Broadway convention to happen. Finally, it was going to be a reality, and I was overwhelmed by joy and surprise! The first year of BroadwayCon was absolutely unforgettable-and not just because we got stuck at the Hilton in the midst of that crazy blizzard!!

10,512,000 minutes. It might not sound as catchy, but it's a number that certainly makes an impression. 10,512,000 minutes ago, the world was changed forever when a new musical called RENT rocked New York for the first time. It was January 25, 1996 when Mimi, Roger, Mark, Collins, Maureen, Benny, Joanne and Angel came to life onstage at the 150-seat New York Theater Workshop- a run that would precede the show's 12-year stint on Broadway.
This month we are all RENT-heads again, because BroadwayWorld is paying homage to the musical with 20 days of RENT! Be sure to check back daily to get your fix with videos of performances from Broadway, the big screen and beyond. Today, we're bringing you Idina Menzel and Fredi Walker performing 'Take Me or Leave Me' in 1996.
