After the impossibly long winter, summer is finally coming to Maine shores, woods, and towns. And along with summer outdoors fun, comes the return of summer theatre. Maine is blessed to have a wide selected of professional and community playhouses from which to choose. Here is but a small sampling:

Peninsula Players Theatre, America's oldest professional resident summer theater and Door County's theatrical icon, announces its 80th season, running June 16 through October 18, 2015. Nestled along Door County, Wisconsin's scenic shore, the Peninsula Players has been enthralling generations of audiences in its 600-plus seat, all-weather pavilion since 1935, presenting hundreds of pre-Broadway tryouts, world premieres, classic dramas, comedies and musicals.

The Group Rep presents the west coast premiere of Frawley Becker's searing drama 'Tiger by the Tail' directed by Jules Aaron, produced by Richard Alan Woody and Frawley Becker. The play runs today, March 6th through April 19th, Todays and Saturdays at 8PM, Sundays at 2PM, at the Lonny Chapman Theatre located at the edge of the NoHo Arts District in North Hollywood, CA.

No matter if you saw the original Broadway production or the classic film version of Wait Until Dark, the fact of the matter is that Arizona Theatre Company, in co-production with Geva Theatre Center, has mounted a show that stands on its own two feet as riveting and suspenseful drama.

Wait Until Dark is a roller-coaster for the stage, a chilling edge-of-your-seat thriller pitting a deeply sinister con man against an unsuspecting but sharp-witted young blind woman. Written by Frederick Knott, newly adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, and directed by Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) Artistic Director David Ira Goldstein, Wait Until Dark comes to the Herberger Theater Center, tonight, Nov. 13-30.

To start a review with 'it was a dark and stormy night' would probably be as unoriginal as that infamous line itself. On the other hand, in this case, it fits. It was in fact a dark, windswept, rain soaked, stormy night in Warwick when a sizable crowd attended the performance of Ocean State Theatre Company's (OSTC) production of Dial M for Murder. The atmosphere outside the theater was ripe for mystery, suspense and intrigue. Unfortunately, the uneven and mostly average production didn't really live up to the mood set by Mother Nature.

WAIT UNTIL DARK centers on a missing doll carried into the United States by photographer Sam Hendrix (Linden East) for a woman named Lisa he meets at a Canadian airport. When the doll goes missing in Sam and Susy's apartment, three ruthless thugs show up to try and find it, terrorizing Susy in the process. Many will remember the 1966 Broadway play starring Lee Remick and Robert Duvall, or the 1967 film starting Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin, But seeing it in an intimate 99 seat theater brings spine-tingling chills galore.

Ocean State Theatre Company (OSTC), currently celebrating its third season in its new state-of-the-art theatre in Warwick will present Frederick Knott's intense and gripping thriller, Dial M for Murder. This brilliant dark tale, with furnishings provided by OSTC's 'Partner in Design,' Ethan Allen, and additional support provided by Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness, will enjoy a limited run at Ocean State Theatre from tonight, October 29 - November 16.

Continuing Arizona Theatre Company's 2014/2015 season is a 1966 Broadway hit thriller and a 1967 Oscar-nominated movie classic starring Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin: Wait Until Dark, by playwright Frederick Knott and adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher in 2013.
