The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its lineup of 55 diverse and engaging short films in competition, including 29 world premieres. The selected shorts include a cross-section of international and U.S. filmmakers and were curated from a record 4,754 submissions. For the second year running, 40% of the selections are directed by female filmmakers. The short films will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs, which consist of five narrative, three documentary, one animation, and one hybrid program. The program will also include special screenings and the 12th annual Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival, sponsored by Mohegan Sun. The Shorts Film program, sponsored by Nutella®, runs throughout the Festival, April 18-29.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts announces three more critically-acclaimed acts to its 2018 Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA). They are Toshi Reagon -- a talented singer, composer, and producer with roots in folk, blues and rock; Nobuntu - an all-female a capella group from Zimbabwe; and Inventive Mothers: A Tribute to Frank Zappa performed by Studio Dan from Austria. Each will enhance the stellar lineup of artists already planned for PIFA 2018. The 11-day festival is packed with more than 50 performances ranging from music and dance to 360-degree immersive spectacle experiences, and will attract regional visitors to Philadelphia from Thursday, May 31 through Sunday, June 10.

Live music's premier hologram production company Eyellusion, today announced that a who's who of Zappa fan favorite musicians will support 'The Bizarre World Of Frank Zappa' hologram tour set to hit music venues in late 2018. Longtime and legendary Zappa players Ray White, Mike Keneally, Scott Thunes, Robert Martin and Joe 'Vaultmeister' Travers are set to perform as the show's touring lineup; they will be joined along the way by Steve Vai, Warren Cuccurullo, Ian Underwood, Vinnie Colaiuta, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Arthur Barrow, Ed Mann and more. Hours of never-before-seen Zappa performance footage from the early seventies will form the basis of the 'can't miss' concert spectacle. Singer-songwriter Nellie McKay will perform on Friday, February 23 at 8PM in the Spotlight Caf at the Capitol Center for the Arts. McKay puts her spin on classics by artists ranging from Steve Miller to Cole Porter and Doris Day to the Beatles and Frank Zappa. Her original songs touch on subjects as far-ranging as her beloved dog to political and environmental issues.
