Desert Theatreworks (DTW), Palm Desert's 501(c)(3) community theatre, has received 64 nominations for the Desert Theatre League's 2016 Desert Star awards, the most of any company. Lance and Ron Phillips-Martinez, the spouses who serve as DTW's artistic director and executive director, respectively, sat down with Broadway World to discuss the company's nominations and its upcoming season. The 2016-17 season consists of two comedies, a murder mystery, two musicals, and a holiday revue featuring Frank Sinatra's songs: The Realistic Joneses, A Murder is Announced, Christmas My Way: A Sinatra Holiday Bash, 45 Seconds from Broadway, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Next to Normal.

Directed by MAC Award-winning vocalist and MAC Award-nominated director Tanya Moberly, France's show is a tribute to Italian-American singers and what she calls 'a celebration of what they've contributed to help us all live the good life.' Queens native Robert Davi, is one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world. Davi made his Feinstein's54/Below debut last night and Broadwayworld was there. Mr. Davi completely dominated the stage and every corner of Feinstein's/54 Below with his electrifying music and acting skills. In his show Robert Davi Sings Sinatra, Davi is not Sinatra, he has his own unique well trained rugged voice. However he has the same tough but mellow persona that keeps you hanging on every move and sound he makes. Davi studied acting under the legendary Stella Adler at the world-renowned Actors Studio. As the indelible villain Franz Sanchez in the James Bond film Licence to Kill to more recent film and television appearances, he has thrilled audiences. He appeared opposite Marlon Brando in Christopher Columbus: The Discovery, Clint Eastwood in City Heat, Bruce Willis in Die Hard, and Roberto Benigni in Son of the Pink Panther. He also appeared in 88 episodes of the NBC series Profiler playing Agent Baily Malone, and as Commander Acastus Kolya on Showtime's Stargate Atlantis. Other credits include Steven Spielberg's classic The Goonies and Raw Deal, where he first met his close friend Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Michael Feinstein and the Pasadena POPS close their popular outdoor summer concert series at the Los Angeles County Arboretum on Saturday, September 10 with A Salute to Warner Bros.! The POPS season finale will provide a quintessential Feinstein experience with a showcase of singers and dancers recreating songs from films adapted from Broadway musicals The Music Man, Gypsy, and 42nd Street among others. The orchestra will also perform timeless instrumental favorites from the silver screen like John Williams' theme from the original Superman, and who can forget the iconic Warner Bros. theme from Looney Tunes.
