His name evokes the pantheon of Russian ballet, Balanchine, Massine, Nijinsky, and he dons its legacy with an air as natural as breath, movement, and shadow. Daniil Simkin has a stage presence that coruscates, scintillant under the wide ethereal room of the Guggenheim Museum. His is a classic artistic and folk heritage, raised by dancers in Russia, where the old imperial aristocracy wined and dined for some two hundred years over one of the most glorious cultural syntheses in art history, Russian ballet.

International artist Luis Fonsi will bring his highly anticipated Love + Dance World Tour, to 14 cities in the U.S., which includes a stop at Ruth Eckerd Hall today, September 20 at 7:30 pm. While watching Crystal Sep lveda perform during the opening of Pacific Standard LA/LA's Condemned To Be Modern exhibit, I couldn't help but think of a quote by Frank Lloyd Wright: 'Space is the breath of art.' San Francisco Opera announces educational events in connection with John Adams' Girls of the Golden West, which receives its world premiere at the War Memorial Opera House on November 21. With a libretto drawn from historical sources by director Peter Sellars, this new work from the composer of Nixon in China and Doctor Atomic explores the true and often brutal stories of pioneers on California's Gold Rush frontier.

Bowzer's Holiday Rock 'N' Roll Party hosted by Jon 'Bowzer' Bauman returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Friday, December 8 at 7:30 pm starring Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Original Comets, Sha Na Na reunion with Johnny Contardo & Henry Gross, Joey Dee and Bowzer & The Stingrays. Tickets go on sale Saturday, September 16 at noon.

Choreographer John Heginbotham and author/illustrator Maira Kalmandiscuss their newest collaboration featuring imaginative production design and whimsical dance theater inspired by Kalman's written work and visual art. Following the world premiere at Jacob's Pillow and before the New York premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Dance Heginbotham and members of The Knights orchestra will perform highlights set to a score composed, curated, and arranged by the orchestra's artistic director Colin Jacobsen.
