On Monday, SEPTEMBER 24, the National Touring Company of WICKED hosted "THE WICKED ROCKY HORROR SHOW", a staged concert performance of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show - Book, music & lyrics by Richard O'Brien. Held at The New Tropicana Las Vegas Historic Showroom, the event featured the company of WICKED. BROADWAY BACKWARDS 6, the one-night-only event held Monday at the Longacre Theatre, raised a record-breaking $281,243 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (the Center).

Yesterday, November 30, Star Jones (Celebrity Apprentice), Kelly Rutherford (Gossip Girl), Bebe Neuwirth (Addams Family on Broadway), Ana Gasteyer (Saturday Night Live), Chita Rivera (Broadway Legend & 2009 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient) & Joanna Lumley (Broadway's La Bete/Absolutely Fabulous) helped Duracell power the New Year by visiting the launch of the pop-up mobile Duracell Smart Power Lab to pedal Power Rovers that are collecting energy to power the iconic 2011 numerals on New Year's Eve. Last night, June 13, the 64th Annual Tony Awards were held at Radio City Musical Hall. Hosted by PROMISES, PROMISES star Sean Hayes and Broadcast on CBS, the evening honored movie stars (Catherine Zeta-Jones, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Scarlett Johansson), industry vets (Katie Finneran, Bill T. Jones, Michael Grandage), Broadway newcomers (Eddie Redmayne, David Bryan, Douglas Hodge) and more!

The 24th Annual Night of a Thousand Gowns benefit, held on Saturday March 27, honored famed director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell. Featured performers included actors from 'Football Strip' and Stimulus Package,' Broadway star Terri White, music artist Crystal Waters, pop singers Kristine W. and Kelly King, and drag queens Coco Peru and and Jesse Volt. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the celebration.

A special benefit fund-raiser and cocktail reception evening was held Feb 21st for The Active Theater Company and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS at Shetler Studios.

On Monday and Tuesday, January 11 and 12, the worlds of ballet, modern, contemporary, tap, jazz, and Broadway converged on the stage of Cedar Lake for Dance from the Heart | MEN, a four performance / two day festival of dance benefiting Dancers Responding to AIDS (DRA) a fundraising program of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.

The production played 3 nights - July 31, August 1 and August 2 to cheering crowds, but the crazy part is - the final dress is done at 10am, in broad daylight and is open to the public, as the venue is a county-owned facility. People showed up in droves, for the run-through and cheered on the actors, the Hollywood Bowl orchestra and conductor Kevin Stites, who you will see is wearing a black, casual shirt for the rehearsal. The show's director, Richard Jay-Alexander, made a brief speech before the run, welcoming everybody, and in this exclusive footage, I was also able to catch him, in his dressing room, before the Opening Night performance.

'The Leading Men IV,' a benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, was held Monday, May 11, at 7pm at Birdland, 315 W. 44th St. As part of the long-running Broadway at Birdland series, it featured top singers from Broadway and cabaret. John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, Shrek The Musical) once again hosted, and Emmy-nominated writer, host and comic Seth Rudetsky returned as musical director, along with director Alan Muraoka (NAATCO's Falsettoland).

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine, and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, continued its 10th Anniversary season with the debut of 'Avenue Q' and 'Shrek' star John Tartaglia on March 30th.

Broadway Backwards is a star-studded event featuring songs that even those not familiar with Broadway know and love, with a very unique and memorable twist. Instead of seeing a woman sing the iconic 'As Long As He Needs Me' from Oliver!, if that song were to be featured in Broadway Backwards, you might see someone like Alan Cumming sing it! The event was a benefit for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of Manhattan.

The 20th Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION announced a total of $3,061,000 had been raised by the 63 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tour companies to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Liza Minnelli and the cast from 'Liza's At The Palace...!' made a special appearance on behalf of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS at the Duracell Power Lodge before they all hopped on specially designed 'Snowmobikes' to help Duracell capture power that will illuminate the iconic numerals 2-0-0-9 as the New Year's Ball drops and the clock strikes midnight.

Legendary Broadway composer Charles Strouse (Annie, Bye Bye Birdie, Applause); Tony nominee Andrea McArdle (Annie, Les Miserables) and Chairman and CEO of Music Theatre International, Freddie Gershon (Licensing Agent of Annie) all joined together for an interview and performance with 'Sirius Live on Broadway' host Seth Rudetsky on Wednesday, December 3rd. live from the Broadway Concierge and Ticket Center (1560 Broadway between 46th & 47th streets) in Times Square.

On Thursday May 22, 2008 the 54th annual Broadway Softball league opened their season at the Heckscher Fields in Central Park.

Legally Blonde star Laura Bell Bundy joined the ranks of the many Broadway legends whose portraits hang on the walls of the famous 44th Street restaurant Sardi's, when her caricature was unveiled on April 24th, 2008.

Amy Birnbaum, Ryan Hill and Allison Estrin hosted 'Round II' at Sardi's Upstairs on Tuesday, January 15 at 6:30PM. The invite-only event aims to bring young artists within the Broadway community to mix business and pleasure, to maintain old relationships, and establish new ones.
