Hop Along will bring their dynamic, powerhouse live shows to stages across Europe on tour with The Decemberists this fall. Just back from the first leg of their headlining tour, which included a sold-out hometown show in Philadelphia where they also performed at the 17th Annual NON-COMMvention, the band hits the road again later this month with stops in Brooklyn (taping a WFUV session on May 29), Los Angeles, Chicago & Pitchfork's OctFest. Today, The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Most have announced that Lisa Wong has been named Director of Choruses for The Cleveland Orchestra, effective immediately. The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus is one of the few professionally trained, all-volunteer choruses sponsored by a major American orchestra. Its members hail from nearly fifty Cleveland-area communities and together contribute more than 15,000 volunteer hours to the Orchestra's music-making each year. Wong will hold the Frances P. and Chester C. Bolton Director of Choruses Endowed Chair.

New York Classical Theatre (Stephen Burdman, Artistic Director), New York City's only all-free professional Off-Broadway theatre company, is pleased to announce a new production of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to celebrate its 19th Anniversary Season. The production, directed by Mr. Burdman, is the company's first staging of Shakespeare's tale of star-crossed lovers, and will be presented in five New York City parks - Central Park, Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City, The Battery, Carl Schurz Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park - with performances from June 5 through July 29 at 7:00 PM. There is no ticketing, and all performances are free and open to the public. New York Classical Theatre also invites audiences to experience unique behind-the-scenes access to open rehearsals on selected dates for each of the five park stagings.

Bravo Media announced today as part of the NBCUniversal Upfront at Radio City Music Hall that the iconic fashion competition series, 'Project Runway,' has made its way back to its original home. Bravo launched 'Project Runway' in 2004 where it continued airing through 2008, and now returns for Season 17. The show joins Bravo's diverse slate of programming and its expansion of seven nights a week of original series in primetime.
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Auburn ("Proof") will provide opening remarks and Rick Younger, featured actor in "Mean Girls," nominated for 12 Tony Awards, will introduce fellow Broadway performers in a celebration of student playwriting called LEAP OnStage: Rising Voices. The fundraiser will be held Monday, May 21, 6-9 pm, in the event space of National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey, 226 W. 44th Street. Proceeds will benefit LEAP (Learning through an Expanded Arts Program), an arts education organization that serves more than 20,000 students in 175 schools throughout New York City each year. A who's who of film and television stars will perform Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues in an intimate theatrical setting for four benefit performances only on May 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 8pm at the Loft Ensemble in Sherman Oaks, it was announced today by producer and director Sheena Metal. All proceeds will benefit V-Day (vday.org), A Global Movement to End Violence Against Women and Girls, and various local anti-violence charities.
