Project1VOICE Celebrates The American Theater Across The Nation

Project1VOICE One Play One Day 2018 is set with national staged readings of Pearl Cleage's Flyin' West on Sunday, June 17, and Monday, June 18. Theater companies, museums, colleges and universities around the country unite for this eighth annual theater celebration that revives and re-introduces forgotten classic plays in the American theater. New England Conservatory Raises $1 Million At Gala

New England Conservatory (NEC), an institution built on 150 years of innovation, hosted NEC150, a celebration to support NEC's future musicians, at Jordan Hall and the Student Life and Performance Center on April 28, 2018. The event was co-chaired by Trustees Deborah Bennett Elfers '82, Barbara W. Glauber, and Frances B. Wilmerding.

New Zealand Musicians Join The Great Escape 2018

This May four bands and artists from New Zealand will be making their way to the south of England to perform at the annual music festival, The Great Escape. This year Louis Baker, Delaney Davidson, Yukon Era and Teeks will be making the trip appearing at their own showcases as well as the 'NZ @ The Great Escape' day party which will be taking place on Thursday 18h of May, 12pm - 4pm at One Church, Gloucester Place.

Isabella Rossellini's LINK LINK CIRCUS Comes to Baryshnikov Arts Center

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) presents the American premiere of Link Link Circus, written and performed by the Golden Globe-nominated actress and filmmaker Isabella Rossellini, for seven performances only, May 16-23, 2018, at BAC's Jerome Robbins Theater (450 W. 37th Street, Manhattan). Following Rossellini's widely acclaimed theatrical lecture Green Porno (adapted from the celebrated Sundance Channel series of the same name), which explored the sexual behavior of animals, Link Link Circus addresses the latest scientific discoveries about animal minds, intelligence, and emotions.

BWW Review: Festival of New Texas Plays at Austin Playhouse

Austin Playhouse recently produced staged readings of the three winning plays from their Festival of New Texas Plays. EIDOPHUSIKON by Reina Hardy kicked off the festival on Friday, April 27, NUTSHELL by C. Denby Swanson was on Saturday, April 28, and MONROE by Lisa B. Thompson concluded the lineup on Sunday, April 29. Along with the professional staged reading, which featured Austin Playhouse directors and company members, each of the winning playwrights received a $500 prize.

Sundance Institute Announces 2018 Theatre Lab Acting Company And Creative Advisors

Sundance Institute's Theatre Lab kicks off on May 6th, and today announced this year's participating acting company and creative advisors. The Lab, which runs through May 27 at the Fellah Hotel outside Marrakech, Morocco, is supervised by Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, and is the centerpiece of the Institute's year-round work with the theatre community, alternating locations between Sundance Resort in Utah and a venue in the Middle East/North African region, as part of a multi-year commitment to international work and a means of facilitating cultural exchange between artists writing in English and Arabic.

Boston Landmarks Orchestra Announces 2018 Free Summer Concerts

Boston Landmarks Orchestra (LO) under the direction of Music Director Christopher Wilkins, and Executive Director Jo Frances Meyer,  announces its 2018 season of free concerts at the DCR's Hatch Memorial Shell on the Esplanade. BREAKING: Peter Dinklage and Haley Bennett To Lead Cast Of Goodspeed Musicals' CYRANO

Goodspeed is assembling a stellar cast for Cyrano an inspired new take on the Edmond Rostand classic Cyrano de Bergerac. Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Peter Dinklage will develop the title role and film actress Haley Bennett will play Roxanne in this bold new musical. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. This exciting musical is adapted by Erica Schmidt in collaboration with members of the Grammy Award-winning indie alternative band The National. Cyrano will run August 3 - September 2, 2018 at The Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn. This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

HBO Films' THE TALE Starring Laura Dern, Debuts 5/26

THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES Announces Benefit Performances At Loft Ensemble

A who's who of film and television stars will perform Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues in an intimate theatrical setting for four benefit performances only on May 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 8pm at the Loft Ensemble in Sherman Oaks, it was announced today by producer and director Sheena Metal. All proceeds will benefit V-Day (vday.org), A Global Movement to End Violence Against Women and Girls, and various local anti-violence charities.

Durham School Of The Arts Theatre Brings Timely Production Of ANNE FRANK To The Stage

DSA Theatre Troupe 5765 brings one of the most powerful stories of the 20th century to their intimate Black Box Theatre. Wendy Kesselman's adaptation of Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett's The Diary of Anne Frank gives introspection into Anne Frank's daily life in the annex, her coming-of-age story, and blossoming relationship with housemate Peter Van Daan in her two-years of hiding. This is a dynamic exploration of the 'banality of evil' and the ever present flame of hope in the story of a Jewish girl in Amsterdam during World War II, and her family's desperate attempt to preserve humanity in an inhumane world. Seven decades later, Anne Frank's message still resonates with young people around the world.

Kennedy Center Announces 2018 Spring Gala

Legendary singer and 2016 Kennedy Center Honoree Mavis Staples will headline a special evening for the 2018 Kennedy Center Spring Gala on Sunday, May 6, 2018, in the Concert Hall. An Evening with Mavis Staples and Special Guests pairs Staples with some of her most notable collaborators: singer-songwriter Neko Case, multi-instrumentalist Bruce Hornsby, and bluegrass-county artist Alison Krauss. Together, they will lead guests through Staples's 60-plus year catalog of genre-defying contributions to American music, including many seminal works that have woven her into the very fabric of gospel, soul, folk pop, R&B, Hip Hop, blues, and rock. The event is chaired by Frances and Craig Lindner.
