Como Mamas to Perform at University of Saint Joseph

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) will host a gospel performance by the Como Mamas on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hoffman Auditorium on USJ's West Hartford campus at 1678 Asylum Ave.

USJ to Host Series of Events Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The University of Saint Joseph will hold its free annual celebration to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 at 7 p.m. The celebration, open to the public, will take place in the Hoffman Auditorium on USJ's West Hartford campus at 1678 Asylum Ave. An ice cream social will follow the event.

After a sold out run last fall, the recent revival of The Diary of Anne Frank, by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett and newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman ('97 Broadway version) will return for a limited engagement previewing January 11, 2019.

Babyboomers are familiar with the original 1946 film It's a Wonderful Life starring James Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore. Stewart played George Bailey who was trapped in his father's Savings and Loan establishment in Bedford Falls, unable to pursue his dreams. Now through December 23 only, the Pasadena Playhouse is presenting a radio play version live onstage adapted by Joe Landry from the 1946 screenplay.

AIR FARCE, one of the most acclaimed homegrown comedy troupes, is turning 45. The Farce will be celebrating this landmark anniversary skewering the biggest news stories, events, people, and pop culture phenomena of the year with its longstanding year-end ritual AIR FARCE NEW YEAR'S EVE, premiering Monday, December 31 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC, with an encore broadcast later the same evening at 12:10 a.m. (12:40 NT).

THE EMPTY NESTERS Comes to Zephyr Theatre In January

Helicopter parents facing the question of what they want to be when their kids grow up is the focus in the new comedy-drama The Empty Nesters by award-winning playwright Garret Jon Groenveld.  This warm and witty look at a couple who drop their youngest child off at college and then take what may be a life-changing trip to the Skywalk at the Grand Canyon, is helmed by Los Angeles based director Richard Seyd, and stars real-life empty nesters John (JW) Walker and Pamela Gaye Walker, who reunite on stage after a 20 year hiatus.
