Cambridge Arts Theatre today presents James Roose-Evans' adaptation of Helene Hanff's novel 84 Charing Cross Road, in collaboration with Lee Dean and Salisbury Playhouse. The cast includes  Stefanie Powers (Helene Hanff) and Clive Francis (Frank Doel). Fiona Bruce (Mrs Todd), Loren O'Dair (Megan/Maxine), William Oxborrow (Mr Martin), Samantha Sutherland (Cecily Farr) and Ben Tolley (Bill Humphries/Alvin). The production opens at Darlington Hippodrome on Wednesday 23 May before touring to Wolverhampton, Malvern, Richmond, Oxford and finishing at Cambridge Arts Theatre on 30 June.

WICKED, the acclaimed stage musical that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, has been voted 'Best Theatre Production for Schools' by educators for a second consecutive year at the School Travel Awards. Following the news that Broadway's Once will be closing, the West End production announced it will close on March 21, 2015. Irish pop superstar Ronan Keating will be joining the London production November 17 and will remain for the rest of the musical's run.

Today (29 August 2014), the producers of Once announce that Jill Winternitz will be continuing in the role of Girl opposite the previously announced Ronan Keating as Guy. Keating will be joining the Olivier award-winning musical on 17 November 2014, with press night on Tuesday 25 November 2014. Once is currently booking at the Phoenix Theatre to 4 July 2015.

Black Swan State Theatre Company will present one of the modern era's greatest plays, Anton Chekhov's The Seagull (in a new adaptation by Hilary Bell, by arrangement with the State Theatre Company of South Australia). Playing at Heath Ledger Theatre in the State Theatre Centre of WA from today 9 to Sunday 31 August.

New leads announced for the Olivier-winning musical, starting from May 12th. The production is currently booking into 2015.

The National Portrait Gallery and the BBC today unveiled their first joint painted portrait commission – of Falklands War veteran Simon Weston by artist Nicky Philipps. Weston was voted last September by viewers of BBC One'sThe One Show as the public figure who most deserved to have his picture displayed at the National Portrait Gallery.

Last night (17 March 20134) the six-time Olivier award nominated musical Once celebrated its first birthday in the West End, joining forces with the charity Oxfam specifically fundraising for their Mother Appeal. Also celebrating St Patrick's Day, the production welcomed their new cast led by Arthur Darvill, who joins the London production having played the role on Broadway. The critically-acclaimed show has been nominated for Mastercard Best New Musical, Zrinka Cviteši? for Best Actress In A Musical, Steven Hoggett for Best Theatre Choreographer, Martin Lowe, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova for Autograph Sound Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music, Bob Crowley for XL Video Award for Best Set Design and Clive Goodwin for Best Sound Design.
