Elyot and Amanda: All Alone, the brilliant adaptation of Noël Coward's Private Lives, currently available to stream at home through February 28th - has been extended by Playhouse on Park and will be available through March 7th.

On the surface Geva Theatre Center's Fielding Studio series production of QUEEN examines the potential devastation caused by the dwindling honeybee population due to Colony Collapse Disorder. This first look seems to indicate that Madhuri Shekar's play will be another social drama about the capitalistic monolith and its insidious corruption in greedy pursuit of wealth. Monsanto stands as the corporate boogeyman that needs to be taken down to save the bees and thereby rescue the planet. The plot could be linear and predictable, clearly establishing villain and hero. Thankfully, Shekar's play delivers a much more complex and thoughtful dramatic work.

Geva Theatre Center's 2019-2020 Fielding Studio Series begins with Queen, written by Madhuri Shekar and directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh. The production begins performances on November 6 and runs in the Fielding Stage through November 24.

Heloise, a play written by Michael Shenefelt, an award-winning professor at NYU whose interests lie in political philosophy and in the history of philosophy and logic, will debut as part of the exciting line-up at this year's Annual Broadway Bound Theatre Festival (BBTF). Now celebrating its third year, the Festival runs from July 30-August 25. Performances will be held at The Lion Theatre in the renowned Off-Broadway performance center, Theatre Row, located at 410 West 42ndStreet, in the heart of the theater district.

A new play, Possessing Harriet, by Kyle Bass, will be presented by Franklin Stage Company, July 12th-28th, in their historic home, Chapel Hall.

Award-winning and critically-acclaimed Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC - Jesse Marchese, Executive Director; Dev Bondarin, Artistic Director) kicks off its 18th mainstage season with the New York premiere of Queen by Madhuri Shekar, directed by J. It's a funny thing when a piece transcends its given medium and becomes ingrained in pop culture. People who have never seen a certain play/read the book/watched the movie find themselves familiar enough with the plot or the characters without ever really experiencing the piece in its entirety. For me, this has been the case for ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST a story that was first told via the acclaimed novel by Ken Kesey, then the adaptation for the stage by Dale Wasserman, then the Academy Award winning film by Milos Forman. I had some familiarity with the plot and characters, but somehow, I was never exposed to it completely, and so it was with a fairly blank slate (those pop culture staples notwithstanding) that I approached Playhouse on Park's latest production.

Playhouse on Park continues its Mainstage Series with Dale Wasserman's unforgettable story that explores the beauty and danger of being original: One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Ezra Barnes, who won Connecticut Critics Circle Best Director for his work on Season Nine's The Diary of Anne Frank, returns to direct this play.
