The final trailer has been released for Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining.

Queer|Art, New York City's home for the creative and professional development of LGBTQ+ artists, is pleased to announce a special Fall season of Queer|Art|Film at IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue at West 3rd St.), September 16-December 2. Organized by guest curators Vivian Crockett, Camilo Godoy, and Carlos Mottaa?"the season, titled Chicas y Fantasmas, explores the shells we inhabit to move through the world. Presented by four contemporary Latinx artists, the season assembles a fierce ensemble of showgirls, cyborgs, glam rockers, and two Chicana teens who defy gendered expectations, ableist norms, and society's limitations to actualize their own self-constructed identities and shape a vision of the world in which they want to live. A full itinerary follows. All screenings begin at 8pm.

This afternoon, Disney+ made its D23 Expo debut with its first-ever showcase presentation, announcing six new series in development and revealing key details about the highly anticipated streaming service to an enthusiastic audience at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim. The event showcased the sweeping array of talent with in-person and video appearances from the stars of Disney+'s slate of originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic and included sneak peeks, trailer premieres, and exclusive news about the service and its upcoming projects. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who stars in the Disney+ original film “Lady and the Tramp,” hosted the lively presentation, welcoming Kevin Mayer, chairman, Direct-to-Consumer & International, to the stage to kick off the show.

Deadline reports that The Force may once again be strong with Ewan McGregor--the actor is in talks to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new series for Disney+. 

Southern Rep Theatre will debut its upcoming 2019-2020 Mainstage season with the professional regional premiere of Tracy Letts' 2008 Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play, AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY. Tonight, Moulin Rouge officially opens on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, but that wouldn't be possible without the 2001 Baz Luhrmann film that took audiences by storm. Moulin Rouge was a jukebox musical romantic drama film that was the third and final installment of Red Curtain Trilogy, Luhrmann's film concept that included Strictly Ballroom and Romeo + Juliet. 

“Doctor Sleep” continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and newcomer Kyliegh Curran star in the supernatural thriller, directed by Mike Flanagan, from his own screenplay based upon the novel by Stephen King.

Netflix has entered into a multi-year overall television deal with Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy.  Following the success of The Haunting of Hill House, Flanagan and Macy will develop and produce new series exclusively for Netflix,  including an all-new chapter in The Haunting anthology, with the next installment chronicling a new story with all new characters.
