Disney's Christopher Robin took in $1.5 million in it's Thursday-night previews at North American box offices, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Blitz Films and Straight Up Films announce that Stephen Dorff (“True Detective,” BLADE) has been signed to star in director Nick Sarkisov's English-language debut EMBATTLED. Written by David McKenna (AMERICAN HISTORY X, GET CARTER, BLOW), the film also includes McKenna's son, Colin, who was born with Williams Syndrome and inspired a supporting role for the film. Sarkisov is set to produce for Blitz Films, alongside Kate Cohen for Straight Up Films, and Scott LaStaiti, with Blitz co-founder Sergey Sarkisov and Dorff serving as executive producers. Eryl Cochran from Blitz Films will oversee production. The film is scheduled to shoot in Alabama this September.

The critically acclaimed, no-holds-barred immersive production of Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting Live begins preview performances Off-Broadway tonight, Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 7 PM.

Producers Brass Jar Productions (Drunk Shakespeare) and Olivier Award-winning producer, James Seabright announced today that the critically acclaimed, no-holds-barred production of Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting Live will premiere Off-Broadway this summer direct from a world tour. Adapted by Harry Gibson, the production captures the passion and controversy of the generation-defining novel and globally successful film and repackages it into a full-throttled stage show where the audience is an integral part of the action, including the notorious 'Worst Toilet in Scotland' scene. Directed by King's Head Theatre Artistic Director, Adam Spreadbury-Maher in collaboration with Greg Esplin (who will also appear in the U.S. production), Trainspotting Live will open a custom-built immersive performance space at 777th 8th Avenue, also home to the long running hit, Drunk Shakespeare. Preview performances are set to begin today, July 5, 2018 with an opening night set for Sunday, July 15, 2018. The U.S. cast of Trainspotting will be announced soon. According to Variety, Rebecca Ferguson (THE GREATEST SHOWMAN) is apparently in talks to star alongside Ewan McGregor in the upcoming sequel to THE SHINING. The film is titled DOCTOR SLEEP.

As their work progresses, their discoveries become more profound than they could ever have imagined. According to Variety, Ewan McGregor will star as grown-up Danny Torrance in the film version of Doctor Sleep, Stephen King's sequel to The Shining.

The most honorable of the honorable mentions in 2018's Tony race will likely turn out to be Travesties, Tom Stoppard's 1974 tragifarce which took top Tony honors for Best Play and Best Actor (John Wood) in 1976 and is now putting up a game bid for Best Revival, Best Actor (Tom Hollander) and Best Director (Patrick Marber).
