Urbanite Theatre will begin its 2022/23 Season with a twisted and inventive dark comedy, The Burdens by Matt Schatz, from October 22 - November 27, 2022. The Burdens, directed by Urbanite Theatre Artistic Director Brendan Ragan, will follow a set of clumsy siblings plotting to address a problematic grandfather. Check out the photos here.

The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center has announced the five featured playwrights and 14 honorable mention guest playwrights who will be taking part in the upcoming 17th Annual Young Playwrights Festival, to be held from May 13-15, 2022 on the organization’s Waterford campus.

Pittsburgh Public Theater has announced the winner of the organization’s 2021-2022 New Play Contest, Lisa Langford, for her play The Breakfast at the Bookstore. As the winning playwright, Ms. Langford will receive a $500 honorarium and a staged reading of her script will be featured in this season’s Public PlayTime series.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center is now accepting applications for the Cabaret & Performance Conference Fellows Program. The professional program, helmed by Artistic Director John McDaniel, will take place August 10-20, 2022 on the O'Neill's seaside campus.

City Theatre at Sacramento City College completes its 2021-22 season with the smart, emotional, and witty World War II production Decision Height by Meredith Dayna Levy. Lori Ann DeLappe-Grondin will direct the play about the often-overlooked heroes of the Women Airforce Service Pilots. The production opens Thursday, April 28, and plays through Saturday, May 7. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on April 28, 29, 30, May 4, 5 and 6 and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1 and Saturday, May 7.

In a very special moment of the evening, O’Neill alumnus and former Monte Cristo Award recipient, Michael Douglas presented Mr. White with his honor. Mr. Douglas also announced that he is making a $1 million gift to the O’Neill, and challenged the audience and supporters to match the gift to support the O’Neill’s operations.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Burry Fredrik Foundation championing the growth and continuing health of Connecticut's non-profit professional producing theaters. Since 2012, the Foundation has granted over $3 million to a dozen Connecticut theaters with a proven track record of accomplishments. In 2022, $500,000 will be awarded. The Foundation was established by Burry Fredrik (1925-2012), a Tony Award-winning producer and noted director, who lived in Weston, CT.
