What a joy it is to see Olivier Award-winning The P Word returning to the Bush Theatre, along with original cast members Esh Alladi and Waleed Akhtar. A deeply moving, heartfelt and important play for our times.

Dr Ranj Singh has joined the producing team for THE P WORD as the Olivier Award-winning play returns to London’s Bush Theatre. Written by Waleed Akhtar, the production explores the lives of two gay Pakistani men in the UK. The limited run will feature the original cast and creative team.

The Royal Court Theatre and Playful Productions have announced the full cast for The Unbelievers, a new play about family, memory and hope by Nick Payne.

Due to popular demand, Jonathan Spector’s This Much I Know has been extended to Saturday 3 February 2024. 

I’ve often described the kind of work the Hampstead Downstairs produces as ‘academic’ - This Much I Know takes this a step further by transforming the stage into a lecture theatre. Framed through a college lecture, Eureka Day playwright Jonathan Spector’s play spans multiple continents and multiple centuries in search of an answer to its central question: are we responsible for the things that we cause by accident?

Jonathan Spector’s multi award-winning play, This Much I Know, will have its European premiere at Hampstead Downstairs from 13 December – 27 January (press night Tuesday 19 December, 7pm). An explosive theatrical interrogation of agency and culpability This Much I Know will be directed by Chelsea Walker and will star Oscar Adams, Esh Alladi and Natalie Klamar.

Writers behind some of the most critically acclaimed works over the last year were honoured at the Writers' Guild of Great Britain Awards 2023 ceremony, including Aamina Ahmad, David Edgar, Vivienne Franzmann, Rebecca Hall, Katie Hims, Adam Kay, Neil McKay, and Ben Power.

This two-man show explores what it’s like for a gay Muslim, who’s also dealing with the expectations of his Pakistani family and the wider community; it also investigates the continued threat of the UK’s ‘hostile environment’ – a deadly game of chance for many at-risk individuals.

The P Word, by Waleed Akhtar, whose play Kabul Goes Pop was a hit at Brixton House earlier this year, opens at the Bush Theatre on 9 September (press night 14 September.) Directed by Anthony Simpson-Pike (Lava, Bush Theatre), this story of who wins in the luck of the life's draw is a new Bush Theatre commission.

A talented cast of 4 will bring this epic story to life - spanning seven decades and three continents, An Adventure follows the journey of a husband and wife as they leave India in the 1950s in search of a better, more exciting future.

Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell were two of America’s most brilliant poets. From 1947 - 1977 they wrote over 400 letters to each other; spanning decades, continents and political eras.  Their connection was messy and profound, platonic yet romantic, distant and intense. A love that resists easy definition.

Last night the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre reopened with the world premiere of Out West. This play is comprised of three new one-person-shows written by UK playwrights: Tanika Gupta, Simon Stephens and Roy Williams. The production is co-directed by Rachel O'Riordan & Diane Page.

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre today announced casting and releases images for its summer reopening production Out West. Esh Alladi will play a young Gandhi in Tanika Gupta's The Overseas Student, Tom Mothersdale will play new father Jack in Simon Stephens' Blue Water and Cold and Fresh and Ayesha Antoine will play security guard Donna in Roy Williams' Go, Girl.

Nottingham Playhouse has announced that Julie Hesmondhalgh and Frances de le Tour will join the actors starring in its digital theatre project Still Life.
