Miller Theatre's Early Music Series will Continue with England's Tallis Scholars

For twenty years, the venerable Tallis Scholars have made a much-anticipated annual appearance in New York City to perform on Miller Theatre's Early Music series. This year's program explores the ways in which composers from different eras and backgrounds reacted to the same seminal texts; it includes multiple settings of Ave Maria, Salve Regina, Magnificat, and O sacrum convivium, alongside Allegri's exquisite Miserere.

ChoralSounds To Present Huge Holiday Choral Concerts

On December 14 & 15, the entire Northwest Associated Arts choral family will present their annual Christmas program at the Highline Performing Arts Center in Burien. This choral extravaganza, titled Christmas Sounds in Burien features five choruses, over 150 singers ages 8 to 92, and is one of Burien's unique holiday traditions. From beloved favorites like The Wexford Carol, White Christmas and Deck the Halls to a joyful sing-a-long the entire audience enjoys.

Dr. Charlene Pauls, the new Artistic Director and Conductor of the Guelph Chamber Choir, is pleased to present our first 2019/2020 series concert. In a world that seems to highlight so much of what is negative about the human spirit, we are presenting a concert that focuses on music that brings people together. The cornerstone of our program is British composer Bob Chilcott's Five Days that Changed the World which, along with other works, will be performed at our afternoon concert on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Harcourt Memorial United Church.

The Broad Stage continues their collaboration with Red Hen Press for their final event of the season, Red Hen Press: The Figure of Orpheus in Poetry and Performance on Sunday, April 28 in The Edye at The Broad Stage. Poets selected by Poetry Society of America Director Alice Quinn will perform contemporary poems on the Orphic theme. A film clip from Marcel Camus' Black Orpheus will be shown to represent the theme in cinema, and pianist Paul Barnes will captivate the audience with The Orphee Suite for Piano, his amazing transcription of Philip Glass's symphony Orphee for solo piano. This event is sponsored in partnership with The Poetry Society of America and Red Hen Press.

Over 1,000 Student Singers to Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Annual High School Choir Festival

The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Los Angeles Master Chorale's Annual High School Choir Festival will be so joyous, it cannot be contained within the walls of Walt Disney Concert Hall! As part of the celebratory Festival Day on Friday, May 3, over 1,000 student singers will give a pop-up performance outdoors on the main staircase of Disney Hall on Grand Avenue at 11:30 AM. Internationally renowned choral conductor and composer Eric Whitacre, who is the 2019 Festival's guest artist, will lead the students in a performance of Pentatonix's Sing, arranged for the Master Chorale by Ben Bram and Pentatonix.

On March 30th, The Museum at Bethel Woods, located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, will open for the 2019 season and mark the 50th Anniversary with the Special Exhibit We Are Golden: Reflections on the 50th Anniversary of The Woodstock Festival & Aspirations for a Peaceful Future, part of A Season of Song and Celebration. This exhibit examines the desires of the youth of 1969, places the legendary festival within the context of the positive societal changes it inspired and asks today's youth what THEY are asking of the world now.
