On Sunday, June 24, 2018, at 2 pm, at Carnegie Hall, MacArthur Genius Grant-winning composer Francisco J. Nuñez and Venezuelan composer Cristian Grases conduct new music specially composed for young people's voices, including two world premieres. Part of the 2018 Season and the IGNITE @ the FORD! series, Considering Matthew Shepard is performed by the 30-member GRAMMY Award-winning Conspirare choir, and composed and conducted by its GRAMMY Award-winning artistic director, Craig Hella Johnson.
The Sarasota Concert Association's free Music Matinees series continues its 2017-2018 season with State College of Florida Chamber Choir, conducted by Melodie Dickerson, Wednesday, March 28, noon, in the Grand Foyer at the Van Wezel Performing Art Hall in Sarasota. The ensemble is known for performing Renaissance madrigals, cutting-edge choral works, contemporary jazz tunes and traditional choral literature. Los Angeles composers feature prominently in the Los Angeles Master Chorale's 55th concert season announced today by Grant Gershon, Kiki and David Gindler Artistic Director, and Jean Davidson, President and CEO. The contemporary works include the world premiere of Eric Whitacre's The Sacred Veil and the West Coast premiere of Reena Esmail's This Love Between Us: Prayers for Unity.
