SOUTH PACIFIC'S Samonsky is New Cable 1/6, Anderson and Caplan 'Promoted' Too

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced today three upcoming cast changes in three featured roles in its award winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, directed by Bartlett Sher at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Beginning Tuesday, January 6, Andrew Samonsky will assume the role of Lt. Joseph Cable, Eric Anderson the role of Stewpot and Matt Caplan the role of Professor, succeeding, respectively, Matthew Morrison, Victor Hawks and Noah Weisberg.

The new show art of the up-coming Broadway musical, Cry-Baby, has been revealed on the show's website. Based upon the Universal Pictures film written and directed by John Waters, Cry-Baby will premiere at Broadway's Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway) beginning previews Saturday, March 15 at 8PM and opening Thursday, April 24 at 6:30PM.

Angela Robinson is Shug while Withers-Mendes is On-Leave

Original The Color Purple Broadway cast member, Elisabeth Withers-Mendes, who has played the role of Shug Avery since the musical began performances at the Broadway Theatre in November 2005 and throughout its entire record-breaking run, will begin a hiatus from the role on Thursday, January 31, 2008. The Tony nominated actress will return to the role for the final two performances of The Color Purple on Sunday, February 24, 2008. Beginning on Friday, February 1, 2008, Angela Robinson assumes the role of Shug Avery while Withers-Mendes is on leave.

'The Color Purple' Fades, to Close on Broadway Feb.24

The producers of The Color Purple announced today that the show will play its final performance on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 7:30pm, after playing 30 preview performances and 910 regular performances at the Broadway Theatre.

'Cry-Baby' Rocks The Marquis, Opening April 24
