The Niceties by Eleanor Burgess, having been performed at the Huntington Theatre Company and Manhattan Theatre Club, makes its way to McCarter Theatre Center's Berlind Theatre, a fitting arena for a play set during a history professor's office hours.

Cast Announced For DETROIT '67 at Hartford Stage

Hartford Stage announced today the cast and creative team for Dominique Morisseau's Detroit '67. The powerful drama, produced in association with the McCarter Theatre Center, will perform at Hartford Stage Thursday, February 14, through Sunday, March 10.

GLORIA: A LIFE Reschedules January 19 Matinee To Join The Women's March

Tony Award-winning producer Daryl Roth (Kinky Boots, The Normal Heart, Indecent) announced today that GLORIA: A Life has rescheduled its Saturday, January 19 matinee performance in order for the company to join the Women's March on NYC. A performance has been added on Sunday, January 20 at 7pm. The production will perform as scheduled at 8pm on Saturday, January 19.

Emily Mann Announces Retirement As Artistic Director Of McCarter Theatre Center

Award-winning playwright and director Emily Mann, who has served as the Artistic Director and Resident Playwright of the McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, New Jersey since 1990, will retire from the position following the upcoming 2019-2020 season, McCarter announced. A fierce champion of works by women and people of color, Mann's final season, which will be announced in March, will be "Signature Emily" - a capstone series of plays celebrating diverse and emerging artists that will pay homage to her monumental 30-year tenure at McCarter.

Patricia Kalember To Play Gloria Steinem In GLORIA: A LIFE

Tony Award-winning producer Daryl Roth (Kinky Boots, The Normal Heart, Indecent) announced today that Patricia Kalember ("Power," "Sisters," "thirtysomething") will put on the aviator glasses of iconic activist Gloria Steinem in GLORIA: A Life beginning Tuesday, January 29. Christine Lahti will play her final performance as Gloria on January 27.

McCarter Theater Center to Present Eleanor Burgess' THE NICETIES

After sparking thousands of conversations about race, history, and power in Boston and New York, the world-premiere production of Eleanor Burgess' The Niceties will run at McCarter Theatre Center from January 11 through February 10. Directed byKimberly Senior (Disgraced on Broadway), The Niceties features Lisa Banes and Jordan Boatman as a white professor and a black student involved in a polite clash of perspectives which quickly explodes into an urgent and dangerous debate threatening to ruin both their lives. "Scintillating," raves Peter Marks in The Washington Post. "The story of America, it seems, is destined to be wrestled over to the bitter end."

Yale Rep Presents GOOD FAITH By Karen Hartman, Directed By Kenny Leon

Yale Repertory Theatre will present the world premiere of Good Faith: Four Chats about Race and the New Haven Fire Department by Karen Hartman, directed by Kenny Leon, February 1-23, 2019 at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street). Opening Night is Thursday, February 7.

Frank Silvera Writers' Workshop Presents Reading Of PARABLE OF THE BACKYARD ROOTS Featuring Lizan Mitchell

Broadway, film and television actress Lizan Mitchell, a Drama Desk Award nominee for The Trojan Women, has joined the cast of the staged reading of Tylie Shider's Parable of the Backyard Roots. The reading is an installment in the Frank Silvera Writers' Workshop monthly play reading series in partnership with The Billie Holiday Theatre, and will be held at The Billie on Monday, December 10 at 7 pm.

Elevator Repair Service To Bring Gatz Back To McCarter

McCarter Theatre Center will present Elevator Repair Service's multi-award-winning play, Gatz, the critically-lauded performance of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, for three performances, February 15 - 17 on the Berlind Stage. Gatz will be presented as a marathon eight-hour event, including two intermissions and a dinner break.

McCarter Presents Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Presented by Tony Award-winning producer Daryl Roth (Kinky Boots, The Normal Heart, Indecent), the production opened October 18, 2018 at the Daryl Roth Theatre on Union Square (101 East 15th Street at Park Avenue South).
