Producing Artistic Director Daniel Elihu Kramer has chosen to begin the season with the New York Drama Critics' Circle Best Play Winner The Night Alive, written by Irish playwright Conor McPherson, as a tribute to CTC's co-founder, Vincent Dowling, who served as Artistic Director of Dublin's Abbey Theatre in the late 80s, and who helmed CTC from its founding until 1995.

Co-founded by Vincent Dowling and H. Newman Marsh in 1990 with the belief that every town should have a professional theatre, Chester Theatre Company (formerly The Miniature Theatre of Chester) prepares to celebrate its landmark 30th Season with four works, each a New England Premiere. 

THE BELLE OF AMHERST RETURNS TO THE STAGE ON FEBRUARY 26, 2019 to the American Theatre of Actors, and will star, world renowned actress, Jane Culley in the title role of Emily Dickinson. In her Amherst, Massachusetts home, the reclusive nineteenth-century poet Emily Dickinson recollects her past through her work, her diaries and letters, and a few encounters with significant people in her life. William Luce's classic play shows both the pain and joy of Dickinson's secluded life. Originally performed in 1976, directed by Charles Nelson Reilly and starring Julie Harris. The Belle of Amherst takes place through the current and past experiences of Emily Dickinson's life, 1830-1886 and is set in her home in Amherst Massachusetts.

Embarking on its 36th Season, The Verdi Chorus (Anne Marie Ketchum, Founding Artistic Director), announced today that auditions will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica for The Verdi Chorus Spring 2019 Concert.

Against The Grain Theatre, Toronto's visionary chamber opera company, is known for electric performances that act as 'a bracing wake-up call to the spirit' (The Globe and Mail). That daring candor is now being channeled via its new in-house recording label, which launches with a live recording ofOsvaldo Golijov's 'ecstatically beautiful...radical and disorienting' song cycle Ayre this December (The New Yorker).

The Verdi Chorus 35th anniversary season culminates with its Fall 2018 concert Passione! Opera! for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on November 10 and 11 led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum. As the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus, this program, which marks the end of a landmark year for the company, will feature selections from three Verdi operas - Aida, Don Carlo, and the famed chorus "Va, pensiero," from Nabucco, as well as operatic sequences from Boito's Mefistofele, Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah, Catalani's La Wally and Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann.

The Marie-Josee Kravis Prize for New Music at the New York Philharmonic, which recognizes a composer for extraordinary artistic endeavor in the field of new music, has been awarded to South Korean composer Unsuk Chin. One of the world's largest new-music prizes, the Kravis Prize includes $200,000 and a commission to write a work for the New York Philharmonic. Ms. Chin's new orchestral work will receive its World Premiere by the Philharmonic in a future season. Funding for the Kravis Prize comes from a $10 million gift to the New York Philharmonic in 2009 by Henry R. Kravis in honor of his wife, Marie-Josee, for whom the Prize is named. Past Prize winners include Henri Dutilleux, Per Norgard, and Louis Andriessen.

MTV today confirmed that Academy Award®-nominated actress and recording artist Hailee Steinfeld will host and perform at the "2018 MTV EMAs" airing live globally from Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Spain on Sunday, November 4 at 9:00pm CET.

American composer Gordon Getty celebrates his 85th birthday on December 20, 2018. This season, the acclaimed men's vocal ensemble Cantus presents Alone Together, a program featuring a new commission by Libby Larsen exploring the struggle to build meaningful connections in a world that has never been more connected. Cantus will perform this program on tour in 2018-19 in three dozen cities throughout North America. The ensemble will also present their innovative take on an age-old Christmas tradition, called Lessons and Carols for our Time, during the Holiday season. Additionally, the ensemble will collaborate with the women's vocal ensemble Lorelei in a one-night-only performance event at the Ordway in St. Paul Minnesota to be broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio.
