The Marsh Berkeley Unveils Festival Of New Musical Voices

The Marsh presenting performers with a vast range of music backgrounds– from a Grammy Award-winning Armenian composer to a Principal Dancer with the San Francisco Ballet, Music Faculty Member at UC Berkeley, the Principal Keyboard of the San Francisco Symphony, and more. Set to take place at The Marsh Berkeley, the festival is comprised of three full-length musicals and a dance/musical film.
The Marsh Offers Daily Programming On Marshstream

As the Bay Area's shelter-in-place continues, The Marsh San Francisco offers a variety of programming at 7:30pm nightly on MarshStream, its popular broadcast platform. Offerings this month include fascinating tales from the Formerly Incarcerated Peoples Project (FIPP), a visit with a top Bay Area director, and much more (see latest schedule below).
OPEN MIC NIGHTS With Ellen Hoffman Extends At Marsh Berkeley

Continuing its commitment to transformation, possibilities, and the community, The Marsh Berkeley announces monthly Open Mic Nights with Ellen Hoffman for 2018. Furthering The Marsh's mission of supporting new voices, Bay Area pianist, composer, and music arranger Ellen Hoffman will host a two-hour set offering five-minute slots to a variety of performers. Experienced singers, instrumentalists, poets, comics, actors, as well as novices will join Hoffman in an evening that presents eclectic entertainment for the adventurous. Those interested in performing will sign up at the door, and are welcome to provide sheet music or their own accompaniment for this celebration of the artistic community in the East Bay. Open Mic Nights with Ellen Hoffman will begin at 7:30pm on the third Tuesday of each month January 16-March 20 at The Marsh Berkeley, 2120 Allston Way, Berkeley. Oakland East Bay Symphony to Perform Non-Traditional Holiday Concert, 12/14

The Oakland East Bay Symphony, Music Director Michael Morgan and guests will ring in the holidays with this popular and delightfully untraditional concert. The beloved, often sold out annual multi-chorus extravaganza broke the holiday concert mold 22 years ago and features gospel music, holiday favorites and audience sing-alongs that invoke the multi-faceted spirits of the season. This year's concert will feature a musical tribute to legendary folk singer/songwriter and activist Pete Seeger, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 94. The choruses and Symphony will perform works associated with Seeger with the audience invited to sing along. Guest artists include Oakland Symphony Chorus, Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, Mt. Eden High School Choir, Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir, and Linda Tillery & the Cultural Heritage Choir. The concert will be given Sunday, December 14, at 4 pm at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland. Tickets are priced $15-$55 and may be purchased at www.oebs.org .
