The Blank Theatre Company's Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival is now seeking submissions from playwrights 19 years of age and younger through March 16, 2009. Winning plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in June of 2009 in Hollywood, CA. Now in its seventeenth year, The Blank Theatre Company's Young Playwrights Festival is a nationwide competition that produces the work of eight to twelve teenage playwrights each year. The Festival has produced 184 plays by playwrights 19 and younger since 1993 from over 25 states.

The Independent Film 2009 Spirit Awards were given out last night Saturday, February 21 in Los Angeles and The Wrestler was a big winner, nabbing Best Film and Best Actor for star Mickey Rourke. Other acting awards went to Melissa Leo for Best Actress for Frozen River, James Franco won best supporting actor for Milk, while Penelope Cruz snagged a best supporting win for Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Woody Allen earned a Best Screenplay award for the film as well.

In its eleven years, amfAR's black-tie dinner and gala have honored the likes of Carine Roitfeld, Julian Schnabel, Anna Wintour, Barbara Walters, Tom Hanks, Richard Gere, and many more. This year, Donna Karan, Liza Minelli, and Howard and Cindy Rachofsky were added to the illustrious list. The Falcon Theatre is thrilled to present Penny Marshall in the comedy, Sheldon & Mrs. Levine, written by Sam Bobrick and Julie Stein, directed by John Bowab. Marshall, famed actress and director, stars as the overbearing mother, with Desmond Harrington as her put-upon son, in the second production in Falcon Theatre's 2007-2008 all-comedy subscription season.
