The Falcon Theatre is thrilled to present Penny Marshall in the comedy, Sheldon & Mrs. Levine, written by Sam Bobrick and Julie Stein, directed by John Bowab.  Marshall, famed actress and director, stars as the overbearing mother, with Desmond Harrington as her put-upon son, in the second production in Falcon Theatre's 2007-2008 all-comedy subscription season.

"Sheldon & Mrs. Levine is the story of an ultra-possessive mother and her 31 year-old neurotic runaway son told through their exchange of outrageous and dysfunctional letters.  In this love-hate relationship, Sheldon (Desmond Harrington) blames his mother, Mrs. Levine (Penny Marshall), for breaking up his marriage and ruining his life.  His domineering mother can't understand why something so trivial should bother her ungrateful son.  Travel the globe and share in the angst, aggravation, madness and mail of a mother and son, who although thousands of miles apart, are still too close to each other for their own good," explain press notes

Penny Marshall (Mrs. Levine) was born and raised in the Bronx and later moved to Hollywood, where in 1971, she got her big TV break with a recurring role on "The Odd Couple" as Jack Klugman's secretary 'Myrna Turner.'  Marshall's other television credits include regular roles on "Mork & Mindy," "Taxi," "The Bob Newhart Show" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."  Her guest appearance in "Happy Days" led to her most famous role as Laverne DeFazio in "Laverne and Shirley."  In 1986, Marshall made her feature film directorial debut with Jumpin' Jack Flash.  Two years later, Tom Hanks starred in her production of Big, earning nearly $115 million at the box office and garnering Hanks his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.  She then directed Awakenings, which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture and starred Robert De Niro (who earned an Oscar nomination for his performance) and Robin Williams.  Inspired by the true story of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League of the '40s, Marshall directed and executive-produced A League of Their Own in 1992.  It was a major box office hit and her second film to surpass the $100 million mark.  Marshall went on to direct Renaissance Man (1994), The Preacher's Wife (1996), and Riding in Cars with Boys (2001).  In 2005, she developed and produced Cinderella Man as well as the big screen version of Bewitched.

Desmond Harrington (Sheldon)   A Bronx native, Desmond worked as a landscaper and a bartender before landing his role in Luc Besson's 1999 historical epic, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, starring Mila Jovovich, John Malkovich, and Dustin Hoffman.   Audiences next saw him in My First Mister, opposite Albert Brooks and Leelee Sobieski (2001).  That same year, he co-starred in Riding in Cars with Boys opposite Drew Barrymore and Brittany Murphy for director Penny Marshall.  In 2002, Desmond starred in the Joel Silver produced horror movie, Ghost Ship. Other films: Wrong Turn with Jeremy Sisto and Eliza Dushku (2002), We Were Soldiers (2002), and Love Object, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2003.  Television:  the Emmy-winning miniseries "Taken" (produced by Steven Spielberg), "LA Dragnet" with Ed O'Neil (2003-04), "Sons & Daughters" (2006-07), and "Rescue Me" (2007).
