Soho Rep in Association with Ma-Yi Theater Company Will Present Hansol Jung's WOLF PLAY

Soho Rep., in association with Ma-Yi Theater Company, will present Hansol Jung's mischievous and affecting new work, Wolf Play, directed by Dustin Wills, March 17-April 19. When a young South Korean boy-represented onstage as a puppet operated by a 'wolf'-is 're-homed' via a website chat room, he and his brand-new parents (a professional boxer, Ash, and Ash's wife, Robin) undergo the strange, fraught process of becoming a family.

Applications Now Open For Art House's Inaugural INKubator Writing Group

For the first time, Art House will be cultivating a group of playwrights as part of the INKubator program's new play development initiative. Selected playwrights will meet on a monthly basis between October 2018 and May 2019 to share their work and further the growth of a specific piece that each playwright is developing. Alex Tobey, resident director of the program, will be joined by special guests each month (playwrights, directors, dramaturgs, literary managers) who will moderate conversations focused on peer feedback, guidance, and personalized support for each playwright's individual process.  In the spring, each writer will team up with a professional director to present a public reading or workshop performance as a part of the new annual Jersey City Spring Festival of New Plays.

The F*CK!NG GOOD PLAYS FESTIVAL is a long-standing tradition at Rattlestick of doing readings of bold new works from Rattlestick Alumni Writers and from Rattlestick's apprentice company, Middle Voice; as well as welcome new writers to Rattlestick for the first time.  On the final day of the F*CK!NG GOOD PLAYS FESTIVAL, Rattlestick will present TheaterJam, a day-long event featuring over 20 writers.

Austin theatre troupe paper chairs has been creating original works of theatre here for the past eight years that consistently push boundaries both verbal and visual. These fresh and exciting works are, in no small part, due to two women who were among the founding members, Elizabeth Doss and Lisa Laratta. Opening on March 23 is their latest offering, THE REPENTANCE OF ST. JOAN, a new play by Austin playwright Patrick Shaw. Broadway World recently had the opportunity to sit down with them to get a deeper look into both the company and their upcoming production.

Public Theater Announces Line-up & Casting for Fifth Season of Public Studio

The Public Theater announced the fifth season of PUBLIC STUDIO today, which will present two new plays this spring. Continuing The Public's commitment to nurturing new playwrights, the two plays will run in succession in The Public's Shiva Theater and be presented as pared-down productions with the low ticket price of $15. Johnson the 2018 P73 Playwriting Fellow. Selected from over 400 applicants, Johnson will receive a $10,000 award and additional $10,000 budgeted for developing several new plays over the course of the year.
